My server/internet status

Well, I have talked on the phone with my ISP like 6 times this week, i'm on a first name basis with 1 tech now. Turns out our cable modem was the issue, not able to support speeds. Got a new modem, now have to wait 24 hrs to gain maximum speed. The tech turns out, he plays on my source server here and there rofl (he was wondering were the server was coming from, he pinged so low), i'm actually 7 blocks from my ISP headquaters and LAN center were he plays :D

If its not a modem issue, then our internet line will be fixed by end of this week, to get the full 6/1mbit speeds, the main ISP out here finally finished upgrades, the ISP i have is a off shoot of the main one.

OK, figured it out. Talked to my favorite Tech again. None of the modems the ISP has are DOSIS 2 capable. So we are getting a $30 refund for the cable modem, and a $30 refund for the past 3 months of bad service on their part. Then we are gonna go out today and pick up a Motorola 5120 cable modem.

Then its 6-7mbit dl and about 1mbit up (upload is about 950kbits now)

Yeh, i'm not too terribly worried about the extra upload. Cause by quotes of the internet package, we should be getting 6mbit dl/ 786kbit upload. Right now i'm getting about 925-950kbit upload, about 115Kbyte/s

Here is what i'm at now on upload. I have to go downstairs on desktop Hard wire to test DL.

I want the 6mbit download, so when i dl something from internet it wont lag server out, the extra room is what i want.

True, new modem is installed, speeds take 24 hrs to get up.

I got offered a job with my ISP. With my computer knowedge and OS knowedge and games, i could work part time with my ISP as a intern and manage the LAN center at the ISP headquarters.

They run cs and css servers on win2k. Linux anyone? :D

rofl, i didnt take it yet :) I might volunteer to setup linux game servers at the LAN center. IDK, i'll have to talk to my fav tech next time he is on my cs:s server.

For those who play on my CS:S server, this means less lag and better latency for ya. People downloading things on my network, wont affect the ping as much as it did before. Gives me more leway for downloading now.
