I have looked at ALT dkp mechanisms, talked with Goblit and passed my ideas off to Mirakle, Icthus and Dukatt for refinement. And this is the new policy where it stands:
MAIN TOONS
Raiders are required to declare a main or primary toon for raiding. This toon should be the one you plan on raiding with the most, gearing up first, and taking through the raiding progression first.
Main toons are afforded the following rights and responsibilities:
Only one main (primary) toon per paid account
50 DKP for running any 40 man raid for the first time
15 DKP for attaining 125 FR
The right to bid for class set items that drop appropriate to your class
The right to bid for non-class specific items that drop and are appropriate to your class. We use this site (http://www.wow-loot.com/) as a general guideline.
Is responsible for understanding their roll in raids, signing up for raids, and showing up on time, at the designated spot. Failure to inform a class leader or raid leader of not being able to show up for a raid will result in a docking of 5 dkp.ALT TOONS
Alternate (alts) toons are afforded the following rights and responsibilities:
Any number of alt toons per paid account
Does not qualify for the 50 DKP first 40 man run bonus
Does not qualify for the 15 DKP for 125 FR
Is not granted the right to bid on class items that drop appropriate to your class except after attaining 75 unused DKP (calculated as Earned DKP minus spent DKP) and having more then 25 DKP above anybodies declared main toon. Class set items that drop and are in danger of being DE'd because no mains require it will default to an alt toon.
Is not granted the right to bid on non-class specific items regardless of the amount of unused DKP that is availabe or if the DKP is greater then 25 more then everybody elses. Non-class specific items that are in danger of being DE'd because no mains require it can be defaulted to ALTs
To play an ALT character you must first attain approval of the class leader of your primary so that they can adjust for you absence and attain the approval of the class leader of the class of your alt to find out if there will be room for your alt.
As Alts are played by people who understand the value of gear in end game raids, alt toons are expected to have full blues, level 50 and higher and 100 FR to progress past the lava packs.A player may change the title of any ALT toon to that of a Main by informing a raid leader. All the history of the old main will be transfered to the Alt, thereby giving the alt all the unused DKP of the main, including the bonus from the first 40 man run DKP and 125 FR DKP. Any player may make this transfer free of charge during their raiding life time only once. Further transfers due to declaring another new main will cost 50 dkp per transfer.
At any time a raid or class leader may require a person to bring a specific toon, either for the duration of the raid, or for a specifc boss. In these circumstances the player is entitled to the following rights:
They may declare that all the DKP that they earn on the class they are being required to play to be attributed to their main or any of their alts. All the DKP that is earned during this time will be transfered to the declared toon and only one toon can be declared.
BOE items that drop that are for their normal main character (or the toon they were planning on bringing with prior permission) can be bidded on by said person. ie...Where has declared his Rogue as his main as we approach Garr we notice we are shy warlocks so he is asked to bring Lukki in for the Garr fight. While we are taking out the trash around Garr and the NS bracers drop (BOE). He can bid on them for Where. For the purpose of the Garr fight itself, Lukki is considered an alt and must follow the Alt rules above before bidding on the Felheart Horns. He can declare that all the DKP he earns while on Lukki be transferred to Where or to keep it in Lukki.(These rules are always under refinement as they are not perfect in every condition. Hopefully these rules will ensure people new to MC have a reasonable chance of getting geared up without alts hogging all the gear. And that mains that are working in higher progressive are not having thier DKP leeched by their alts, there by hurting their own gear progression and the raids progession in higher level instances.)
