Yeah! The comment feature is SO cool! I've already been adding some. It's fun! You get to share your opinions and possibly different viewpoints on a game.

Really? How do you do this?

CCGR
09-23-2003, 06:37 PM
on the right hand site of the site should be a register option. sign up and post away!

SSquared
09-23-2003, 09:38 PM
...and once you sign up, go to a review. On the left side is an option to add your own comments! Go for it! This is so cool. I can't wait to read what other people have to say.

Awesome! I'm really glad that you guys put in such a great feature as this! http://www.cgalliance.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

CCGR

yeah now the hard part is getting people to use it http://www.cgalliance.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Well, here I am, finished with my first new review for the revised CCGR. And, guess what? I have no idea how to use the system to rate the reviews! Please, please, tell me the formula! PLEASE! I'm begging you! I need to get that up onto the site!

On a lighter note, is there any way for there to be a filtering system, if, and when, some buffoon decides to post curse words?

CCGR
09-24-2003, 05:50 PM
yeah there is a bad language filter.

here is how I use the letter grades

A=4
B=3
C=2
D=1
F=0
+/-=.25

add up the points and divide by the number or review catagories (in my case 6 game play, sound, graphics, interface, stability, and appropriateness)

the number you have there is the %

To rate an existing review you need to log into the side using the member panel on the right, read a review and an option to rate/comment on it is on the left

What...er...review might you be posting?

iamscott
09-25-2003, 05:11 PM
Oh, nothing much. I had recently bought the new version of Madden, so I am posting that. Are there any problems with that? I hope not. It took me a little while.

daszo24
09-25-2003, 08:46 PM
http://www.cgalliance.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif That's absolutely fine that you're putting a Madden review up http://www.cgalliance.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif It just seemed as if it was a little secretive http://www.cgalliance.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif Maybe I was just in a crazy mood when I posted that.

I'm always interested to hear what people think of the new football games as I can never decide which to get, if I even deem it important enough to get the new year's version http://www.cgalliance.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

iamscott
09-26-2003, 05:07 PM
Well, sorry if I was being secretive. I didn't mean to be. Really. I will tell everyone the reviews I plan to do. Or maybe we should add this section the site that says 'Upcoming Reviews' and then lists the game title and the reviewer. I don't know. It just seems that it might...reduce confusion and...er, disappointment...yeah...that's what I meant to say...

CCGR, your new web site is pretty good and easy to
use but you need to get more files to download if
you can.

SirThom
09-27-2003, 10:48 AM
Caleb: Well, she's got unlimited space, so I am sure many files will be on there.  Do you have any requests?

iamscott: I don't think you need to be so edgy, he was just asking what review you were going to do.

CCGR
09-27-2003, 12:08 PM
Drew has a good point about posting reviews in process so people are not spending lots of time writing a review only to find out it's posted 20 min before!

let me know what files you want us to put up. I've been doing requests.

Tom, let me know what files you were planning on uploading.

SirThom
09-28-2003, 12:02 PM
I would just host them myslef and put them on CCGR, but I don't want to overload my bandwidth quite yet http://www.cgalliance.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Here's what I want to upload for you:

Videos:

Waverace Blue Storm
Wario World
Unreal 2003
Tron 2.0 Trailer
Tron 2.0 Trailer - Firewall Video
Splinter Cell
Soul Calibur II GC Intro Movie
SimCity 4
Star Wars Rogue Squadron III
Rayman 3
Pikmin 2
Mario Party 5
C&C Generals
SpyHunter
SSX 3 (awesome video!!)

Demos:

Rich Diamond
Midtown Madness 2
AoE 2
AoE 2 Expansion

Thats it. It totals up to about 300MB.

SSquared

I think Drew has a good point regarding "upcoming reviews". That's the reason I recently posted the thread asking what everyone is planning to review.

iamscott
09-28-2003, 04:54 PM
Ok, here's the deal:

Tom, you MUST check and make sure that the videos and demos you are planning on posting are not copyrighted. Since the website is now under the radar of many game publishers (thanks, in no small part, to yours truly), there can be possible legal consequences for copyrighted stuff. We really don't need that.

Here's something for the newsletter:

Give this code to Tom Nook in Animal Crossing:

4UF6T948GZ3ZW3
dw#%jtLEqj5ZBf

This code is case-sensitive.

In Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX 2, try doing a special trick through a camera to unlock a cool hidden outfit.

In unrelated news, I have a couple new reviews in the works:

The Simpsons: Hit and Run
Star Wars: Rogue Squadron 3: Rebel Strike (preview)
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4
Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX 2
Stronghold (PC)

Here are the reviews I would like to do for upcoming games:

Star Wars: Rogue Squadron 3: Rebel Strike
James Bond 007 in Everything or Nothing
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
Gladius
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
XIII
Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes

Hope thats cool with everyone.

All of the downloads on CCGR are copywritten, aren't they?

SSquared
09-29-2003, 02:06 PM
Well, demos you can usually get anywhere for free. The videos may potentially be a problem. Things like where GameSpot has their own trailer or preview movie, those may be meant only for GameSpot downloading.

The other issue with the demos is some sites don't like having direct links to demos. They want people to go directly to the site and download that way.

iamscott
09-29-2003, 05:11 PM
Well right. It is best just to verify that they are copywritten, and if so, then you might, just might, want to get permission to use the video or what have you on the site.

SirThom
09-29-2003, 10:11 PM
Its alright then...most of them are from e3.com or whatever....nevermind.

I don't have any request's at the moment, though
I'm thinking about maybe whether I should request
the demo of Deus ex 2 or not because the Deus Ex 2
demo would be big to download. I'm only giving
suggestion's to how CCGR could make her site good.

Well, its official. I have gotten the new Madden review up. However, I did this on my free period at school, so I wasn't able to put any screens up, due to the stinking filtering system at school. Anyway, I hope to be getting some more reviews up very soon.

SSquared
09-30-2003, 04:39 PM
Wow! You wrote the review during a break? It takes me about 2 months. Actually, I've been working on a Medal of Honor review since about April of 2002!!!! I'm adding the final touches now. I just got MOH:Breakthrough, but I have no idea when I'll get to playing it.

iamscott
09-30-2003, 05:14 PM
Well, it actually took me about three periods, but, yeah. What do you think?

CCGR
09-30-2003, 06:10 PM
Tom fixed the html on it (he does that to mine too so don't take it personally) and I put an image on there. looks even better now http://www.cgalliance.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif thanks for putting it up, great review

iamscott
10-01-2003, 05:08 PM
How did he fix the HTML on my review? I did it myself correctly! Sheesh! Not that I'm taking it personally, but geez.

CCGR
10-01-2003, 06:16 PM
I dunno how he does it. I use the built in editor but he usually finds something not like the standard. he got mad when I called him html nazi http://www.cgalliance.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif It's all good though, the reviews look great. http://www.cgalliance.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

SSquared
10-01-2003, 08:07 PM
Well, I'll be the grammar/spelling Nazi then. Actually, I've been fairly tame. I've only changed things when specifically asked to read over a review before it goes live.

iamscott, I thought the review was great. Very well done. My only personal feeling is, I feel the only type of game deserving of an A+ Appropriate/Christian rating is one which (in addition to other appropriate aspects) promotes Christianity/Jesus/etc. in a positive way. Let me be clear, I am not saying if it's a Christian game it gets an automatic A+. Just that it should have all aspects of appropriateness INCLUDING promoting Christianity. Also, the review DID mention something about the cheerleaders. Anyway, as the reviewer, you have the final say...

CCGR
10-01-2003, 11:47 PM
I agree with SSquared I give out A+'s sparingly but as long as things are mentioned it's up to the reviewer to rate and the reader to buy

Drew, I could say the same thing on how you posted my reviews.  Most of the reviews you posted pre-launch were excellently done, HTML wise.  Madden had the titles on H5's instead of H4's, and the final ratings werent formatted at all.

I can tell you don't like the way that I fix everything, so I will just shut my face now  http://www.cgalliance.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif

iamscott
10-02-2003, 05:35 PM
No, don't shut your face. Seriously. I think its cool that you can edit the reviews well. And I thought I formatted the review correctly. Whatever. Its fine with me. I actually kind of forgot how to do everything, but I will figure it out later.

SirThom
10-04-2003, 12:03 PM
Okay okay, I just thought you didn't need to be so edgy, that's all.

iamscott
10-06-2003, 05:02 PM
Whatever, man.

I think that A pluses should be given out sparingly; however, how can this be the case in terms of sound or control or graphics? I generally try to refrain from giving A pluses is terms of appropriateness, but the rest of the areas are generally not going to have Christian content, unless the game is Christian. Secular games, as most know, do not have any Christian content, despite them having some similar values.

SSquared
10-06-2003, 09:22 PM
I was strictly talking about Christian/Appropriate in regards to the A+.

iamscott
10-07-2003, 05:11 PM
Oh, okay. I misunderstood you.
