Along the same lines, some modern PC ports of Commander Keen and that game with the rendeck and a shotgun, forget waht the name is, would be great, I miss those games . . . .

If you have a Palm, Handmark (http://www.handmark.com) has released several of those old games (Spy Hunter, Defender, Joust, Tapper, etc.).  They are essentially the original game, not necessarily a modern remake.

And if you have a GBA, you could get Metroid: Zero Mission, which is the same game as the NES classic Metroid, save for the fact that it fleshes out the story more, and it adds some new elements, plus a new ending.
