New forum signature rules

Okay, my signature is down under 120 pixels. What's weird is that I've had the same signature for months. The only changes I've made were links to new websites, but that's it. =/

multiple posts have been made about hte signature regulations and it is now over halfway into 2006. The regulations are easily found.

This is the only thread I've noticed on the subject, and it's not even from 2006. :p Tek even gave my sig a thumbs up. As I pointed out, it hasn't changed that much! :D

But oh well. My sig is back to normal, so I'm cool. But I'd just hate for newer users to spend a fair amount of time on their signatures, and then have it wiped away without any warning.

ya thats the first i heard of the rule till someone decided to play mean with my sig. In a earlier post they said a pm would be distributed before changing...

about people getting free pr from this site you can put <meta name="ROBOTS" CONTENT="NOFOLLOW"> into the metatags, that will prevent the spiders from referencing the link in pr calculations.
 
thats from way back in 2003, a global announcement proclaiming a date that sigs would be filtered would have been nice.
 
I noticed the warning a few weeks ago and posted it in the Guild Wars forum as well. There are so many in violation that taking the time to PM those nasty violators :p isn't a very realistic option. The first time it was posted, many started putting their sigs in a spoiler tag but this doesn't help the dial-up monkeys.
 
Dial-up users should head over to User CP -> Edit Options and uncheck the "show avatars," "show signatures," and "show images" boxes.

For the rest of us... well, I tested my sig with 1024x768 resolution to see if it broke page width, but it doesn't. I myself use 1680x1050, so people could have humongously wide sigs and it wouldn't bother me.

Signatures only get to me when they're ridiculously tall because they add to the amount of scrolling one has to do. That's why I put my two images side by side instead of one above and the other beneath.

Anyway, I'm 19 px over the horizontal limit, so I'll switch up my Xfire profile to a smaller style. Personally though, I don't think 619 px is excessive.

EDIT: OK, this new one does not break any of the rules. It is, however, much taller than my other one, which impedes scrolling more.

the lowest horizontal res i use is 1024, and i doubt anyone would view these forums at under 800 horizontal :p mainly i use 1440x900 at home and 1600x1200 at work.
 
What about my signature? Its a wave signature, 1 minute of a recording from Starcraft, size: 1.26MB. Hosted by thankfully, SirThom.
 
I don't see an "edit signature" in my User CP... is my account on probation or something because I'm new?

I think your sig is fine, seems like relevant stuff you'd want people to know, but now I wonder if mine is ok eek! Tek don't ban meeeeeeeeeeee! :p (a friend made my sig)

We are pretty chill here unless you are the "obvious troll" type, spamming porn links, vulgarities, insulting people etc. Those people won't get in the door if we can help it. Otherwise any warning you may get is just that a warning, you correct the behavior, we all forgive, forget, move on and don't care. We are Christians and try to act like it.

I don't think we've even had to warn people in eons but then business isn't what it used to be here.

Gee willikers Batman look at all the old members in this thread who have moved on, kind of sad, ah well life goes on.
