List of software and services Yahoo has ruined

how have they ruined them exactly?
I can only report on eGroups and All-Seeing Eye, but I'll contribute what I can.

When Yahoo acquired eGroups and changed the name to Yahoo Groups, they made the service bulky and added even more ads.

Yahoo's most recent offense against ASE customers is failing to update ASE to recognize the new protocol used by nearly all Half-Life mod servers. HLSW, a freeware product, released a patch within hours of the protocol change. It's been over a month without more than a "An update will be released shortly" (a lie, apparently) from a Yahoo rep on the ASE forums.

It's pathetic that freeware is updated in hours and we're still waiting weeks later for a fix for a commercial product. It's no secret how to fix ASE, either; Valve has made the information readily available.

Bah. The touch of Yahoo is the touch of ruination.

EDIT: It looks like many people agree.

All-Seeing Eye and HLSW are the only products mentioned that i've used. I used them back in the day the only alternative was to go in HL/CS and use the WONnet server list, remember that? hahaha. It was a good tool for server admins also. Since the release of steam, i've used the steam server browser.

It does look as though Yahoo's Reverse Midas Touch (RMT) will infest TiVO soon enough.

Yahoo Inc. and TiVo Inc. are teaming up to blend some of their services, a move that further fades the lines between offices and living rooms, TVs and PCs.

Under a partnership announced Monday, the two will collaborate to offer Yahoo's Internet-based content and services through TiVo's digital video recording devices.

Users of Yahoo's TV page will be able to click on a record-to-TiVo button directly from a television program listing to remotely schedule recordings.

And in the coming months, possibly before the end of the year, Yahoo's traffic and weather content, as well as its users' photos will be viewable on televisions via TiVo's broadband service and easy-to-use screen menu.

You would think executives at a company as large as TiVO would scout out a potential merger before signing the dotted line.
