This is a copy of a review I did on a couple free movie/radio web sites on the base Christian Gamers Alliance Forums. I thought it would be apt to show it again here.

I've been watching free open source (copyright expired) movies/radio programs online a long time. Some are campy others are just plain good. Many of these old movies and radio programs have very little objectionable content. I say little NOT none, nothing is perfect except Jesus :). Many sites require membership, some fee, some download program or are a pop up haven. Of the ones that do not these are by far the best I have found and I have looked though many, many sites. I should not have to tell you to please use discernment for these sites as I am not responsible for their content.

For Old Movies

I believe the free/pay movie sites get much of their source material from here. WARNING The site archives MANY un-Christian things as well. I think of them as Public television they will archive almost anything.

For Old Radio
http://www.radiolovers.com/
Haven't been here in quite awhile because I've listened to most of the shows :p

Please don't post links to other sites here (unless they are of the same quality as these), but, if you like a movie or radio program on one of these sites post a review/link here so others can find the movie/program. THANK YOU :).

There are too many good shows for me to name them all, but I will do a few. If you watch TV I have found nothing worse in these movies/radio programs, but, just the ones I list mind you. For starting I suggest the Buster Keaton movies (except the boat one) and for Radio The Blue Beetle (but camp may not appeal to you). I watch the movies by right clicking and saving a file from the download selections on the left. I usually pick the second largest file for quality and let it download while afk, however, some files appear corrupted (or incomplete) so you may have to download a different file. I have mentioned any objectable content I can remember and given a general tag to each (serious, fun, campy, comedy, etc.)

Movies
Don't discount these movies just because they are old. Many are better than the CGI addicted stuff they produce today!

The Amazing Mr. X (serious)
http://www.archive.org/details/amazing_mr_x
While the movie features a medium but you know he is completely a fake by the end.

Fleischer Superman cartoons. (fun)
http://www.archive.org/search.php?qu...22car toon%22
I own the DVD so I need not download them, but, that shows you how much I like them! FYI these cartoons actually came up with some of superman's powers and helped shape his character to what we know today. I still find the animation impressive.

Baby Face Morgan (1942) (comedy)
http://www.archive.org/details/babyface_morgan
Fun at the beginning but the ending is far too short.

Barefoot Boy (1938) (fun)
http://www.archive.org/details/barefoot_boy
Don't let the name throw you. The younger sister makes the movie.

Buster Keaton (comedy)
http://www.archive.org/search.php?query=Buster Keaton
Too many people will dismiss these movies because they are silent but some are extremely good! You must look close or you will miss some good jokes and the stunts he does are still thrilling today (you can see were Jackie Chan was in influenced). This link goes to a search so not all the listings are for Buster Keaton and I would avoid the incomplete "Flawed Family Flicks" selections. Try "Convict 13" if you cannot decide which to watch first. Note "The Boat" has a minor cuss word" it is also the least entertaining IMO.

Earthworm Tractors (1936) (comedy)
http://www.archive.org/details/earthworm_tractors
Once again don't let the name throw you.

East Side Kids / Bowery Boys / Dead End Kids / Movies (comedy)
http://www.archive.org/search.php?qu...Side Kids"
This search link may have not gotten all the movies with them. Muggs and the gang grow on you. Screwno seems to be accepted as just one of the guys too. Which is refreshing at a time when most black people were kind of set apart from the group in movies. Muggs prays in "Smart Alecks (1942)" GASP!!!

Happy Go Lovely (1951) (romantic comedy)
http://www.archive.org/details/happy_go_lovely
Not campy just a nice romantic comedy!

Impact (1949) (serious)
http://www.archive.org/details/impact
Perhaps too serious for children as a marriage does end. The beginning is slow but very necessary to the plot and it gets better.

The Inspector General (1949) (comedy)
http://www.archive.org/details/the_inspector_general
I HAVE ALWAYS LIKED DANNY KAYE! The best part is where he plays four versions of himself.

It's A Joke, Son (1947) (comedy)
http://www.archive.org/details/its_a_joke_son
Where the Warner Bros. character of Foghorn Leghorn came from.

Killer Shrews (1959) (campy)
http://www.archive.org/details/The_Killer_Shrews
Watch it to make funny comments on it. If you take it serious you are in for a bad time.

Road To Happiness (1941) (serious)
http://www.archive.org/details/road_to_happiness
Has divorce but is quite good.

The Amazing Quest of Ernest Bliss (1936) (romantic comedy)
http://www.archive.org/details/amazing_adventure
Cary Grant

The Man Who Knew Too Much (1934) (serious)
http://www.archive.org/details/AHThe...newTooMuch1934
Early Hitchcock film

Unfinished Task (1960) (serious)
http://www.archive.org/details/unfinished_task
Not the most entertaining film but it is a film with a strong CHRISTIAN message and Lieutenant Trag! (from Perry Mason) Watchable if only for that.

Why We Fight
http://www.archive.org/search.php?qu...y we fight
This link takes you to a search of war propaganda movies. I have not watched them all so I do not know their content. I wouldn't even bother to watch the recently made ones (knowing how modern stuff can be). I've watched a world war II one though and it was quite illuminating.

Serials
These are some of the many different serials on the archive they are all campy but enjoyable :p . I have only listed the first in each serial you will have to search the archive for the rest, but, they are there (or were when I watched them).

Ace Drummond
http://www.archive.org/details/ace_drummond1
Ace sings his way into our hearts while fighting evildoers that like windmills. To bad he only knows one song lol.

Adventures of Smilin' Jack
http://www.archive.org/details/Adven...ck_-_Chapter_1
Charlie Chan (Sidney Toler) and his number one son (Keye Luke) need I say more.

Dead End Kids: Junior G-Men Part 1 (1940)
http://www.archive.org/details/Gmen1
I found it to be more fun than most of the other serials because of the characters. Two parts are missing out of the twelve though.

Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe: Chapter 1 (1940)
http://www.archive.org/details/flash_gordon_ep1
Apparently the second of 2 Flash Gordon serials. You can hum Queens "Flash Gordon" theme song and make it even better "Flash a-ah". Caaaaaaampy

Zorro's Fighting Legion: Chapter 1 - Golden God (1939)
http://www.archive.org/details/zorro...gion_chapter_1
I have made up alternate words for the music during the riding sequence "We are the legion of Zorro, Zorro's fighting legion, with Zs on their shirts" hehe

Radio
possible objectable content in the radio shows:
radiolovers.com has a couple shlocky/dating banner ads
some of the horror radio shows may be too intense for kids I don't like horror stuff anyway
some un-Christian ghost/magic type stuff in a few shows

The Adventures of Maisie
http://www.radiolovers.com/pages/adventuresofmaisie.htm
Masie can be a little risqué sometimes :p

Blue Beetle
http://www.radiolovers.com/pages/bluebeetle.htm
Donning bulletproof armor and some other gadgets our hero/cop/scientist fights evil. You have to love a Guy who can overtake a motorboat while swimming... in armor.

Cinnamon Bear
http://www.radiolovers.com/pages/cinnamonbear.htm
Children's show. So sugary sweet you will have cavities :D

The Hornblower Stories
http://www.radiolovers.com/pages/hornblowerstories.htm
Makes me want to read the book series. Well acted but not all the episodes are here.

Nero Wolfe
http://www.radiolovers.com/pages/nerowolfe.htm
Corpulent detective.

The Adventures of Philip Marlowe
http://www.radiolovers.com/pages/phi...venturesof.htm
gritty radio noir if there is such a term.
