I make ~45 plat per hour in my alt window with this method while playing GW in my main. In other words, this is a completely "passive" way to make GW cash without boring farming.
A little while back, I found myself noticing I had about 900 unspent skill points on my assassin, and considered turning them into cons for money. The problem was - that's boring.Little money to be made, buying materials from trader = low profit, buying from players takes too long. Lately, I've been using a second account windowed while playing, so I thought I'd try to combine these two things and feel it's been a success after the Embark update. I would go nuts sitting there buying materials for 30+ minutes. Worse than farming.
What you need:
* Lots of skill points to burn
* Some money to start (takes money to make money)
* Access to a second account
* Preferably the ability to window both screens (makes it much more practical)
How to do it:
Just play, though this works best when you're doing something that isn't super involved. For example, when I run Rt/ or /Rt (kinda sad the best build for my monk is all rit skills), it's pretty easy most places. I have both windows windowed, with the one I am playing in taking up most of the screen, and my materials guy in a very small window in the corner. Simply put, it's very easy for me to request/buy/request/buy/etc a bunch of materials while playing. After I'm done playing I just do a quick trade from my alt account to someone with the right EotN rep/skill points and craft. Viola.
I do consets 25 at a time because it's easy to keep track of, and this costs me ~180 platinum and 75 skill points. Cons sell for 9k/set easily, so 225. It takes me much less than an hour to get enough mats for 25 sets together, but I figure you also spend some time in your alt window selling in ToA or something, hence my guestimate of an hour.
Anyway, it's a lot easier than it sounds, and I've found it to be a great way to convert those skill points into money if you have them around.
PS: any alternate ideas or suggestions to improve this are greatly appreciated. Also, if folks are wanting to sell iron/dust/feathers/bones...I'd be happy to pay you what the seller charges me.
