Hey old farts of The Forgiven!

Just wanted each of you to know that I have dl'ed the 10 day demo and have my first character up and running...so if anyone is looking to make a new toon or fire up an old newbie you haven't used yet I wouldn't mind running with some of you.

cheers,

[7F]EhUd a.k.a. Chickenmilker

p.s. - my name on the server is Jethiel

ummm, no. waiting until my kids are in bed before I jump in game. I'll yell out and hopefully someone in The Forgiven will hear me...

Joe! Good to hear from you again. On a typical evening there's usually 20-30 of us on, and usually at least one officer. My character's name is Speculaas and I should be on tonight. Give me a shout and I'll find an officer to invite you.

Grrrrr! I am well within the minimum requirements for Wow and every time I sign in my computer freezes right when I enter the world. Any easy diagnosis out there? I'd love to play with you guys but this is extremely frustrating. Already reinstalled my video card drivers that are up to date. *sigh*

well, stinks and all but I think I've gone through as much of the WoW side errors I could find (thanks for the pointers Alan) and the only thing left is hardware problems...which is most likely the case. When I can finally do some upgrading I'll let you guys know cuz I will be right back in here with another 10 day trial ready to fire up!

K, hope this is kosher but I'm not so much of a genius when it comes to computer hardware. I've been trying to shop around on barebones systems and think I've come to the one I'm going to grab.

Anyone have experience with this chipset? I'm a little hairy on it due to the reviews I've seen but the rest of the package is what I'm after. I'll also be adding a video card:

Any info people can pass on is muchly appreciated! You can tell that I'm trying to hardly spend anything but still get a stable system. If I start hearing arguments of "but only $100 more here, $100 more there" will get me in big trouble with the wife...not desired aggro at all! hehe

So 650.ºº is my cap...

I have actually been pleased at what is offered at WalMart for around your range with the AMD chips(my preference due to $) for a complete system including moniter. Plus you get substantial software. Now I am not a pc geru, but have even built my own. And I have an Acer for far less than that is doing great with an added video card. On mine I also had to upgrade RAM by increasing it. Check them out. My preference is to build them, but I am not close to the parts supply like I was around Dallas. One I built 6-7 years ago is going strong and handling wow ok for the kids.

Looks like a nice system. The 2nd video card is cheaper and looks to have the same specs (unless I am missing something). You get a ton of horsepower with that build too.
Just a couple of questions. Are you running Vista? As you most likely know, XP won't recognize over 3GB of memory. Can I assume you have a DVD-ROM drive to migrate over as well? Since your Hard Drive is Serial ATA and the motherboard supports it, you may have to load the drivers onto a CD or floppy drive when you load the OS.
I use TigerDirect all the time (live not too far from one of their warehouses/superstores). Their prices are good, but from a mail order perspective I prefer newegg.com. You may want to check them out as well.

I like the 9800GT and may upgrade to that card as well.
