This seems to be a problem I encounter often. I have finished my spring college semester (w00t), so I have had more time to spend on CS. During the last few days, I have encountered many people on the ToJ server who either have offensive names, or curse constantly. I always seem to correct their language (I don't think I do so arrogantly or abruptly, but kindly) or tell them to change their names, usually to my disliking. Today, there was a player named "God is an Atheist" playing the server. I told him to change his name or please leave. We are trying to play cs, so please don't try to start trouble. He can stay if he changes his name, but if not, I asked him to leave. He kinda shrugged me off. To my amazement there was another ToJ member in the server who said nothing. I asked the player again, and he did. Only to start cussing (mainly the "f" word). So I asked him again to not cuss on the server, and to go find another server if he will start trouble, adn to obey our server rules. He starts on the little "God likes killing?" comments. And again to my amazement the other ToJer said nothing. So the guy changes his name to "misc = ____" (I'm not going to state the word here). He changed it back to normal, but the other ToJ member still said nothing.
The main purpose many of our "regulars" play on the server is because it is an excellent, Christian server (mainly when the admins are on, since they do a wonderful job). However, it brings the "liking of the server" by the "regulars" down whenever there is a lot of offensive, vulgar words being thrown around. I do not believe the answer to this, since the non-admined ToJers can't "do" anything about it, is to make everyone admin (since many people seem to think, the more admins, the better). I do believe that non-admined ToJers can do something. I believe if we would start correcting people (even if we only can with words) as a whole, instead of one member saying something and everyone else keeping quiet, it can help solve the problem.
Now, I do realize that sometimes people slip up, not knowing the rules, and cuss, and it may get annoying and superfluous for all 11 or so ToJ members to say "Please don't cuss on this server." I am not concerning this post with those cases. I am, however, concerning this post with the cases of individuals who have offensive names, especially offensive to God's name, and repeatedly cuss just to "start trouble." If only one member says something, and everyone else keeps quiet or ignores them, no one will pay attention to the one member if they see 3 or 4 or 5 or however many other ToJ members not saying anything. It makes it look like we don't really care. This I believe presents a bad impression on the "regulars" who do come to the ToJ server, in order to escape the vulgar content in other servers.
I'm not pointing at anyone in particular with this post, mainly because I realize that the people who post here, do do their job (for the most part. I don't play with everyone who posts here). Just if it is a requirement for ToJ members (even Non-admins) to stand up and correct people, and present them with the general server rules if necessary, then it should be enforces and the ToJ members should do it.
There is my rant for the day.
