One reason every culture around the world and through the ages has sought something more than right here and right now is because God has placed eternity in our hearts. We have a desire - a longing - to be part of something bigger than our own little world.
Jude says: Live in such a way that God’s love can reach and bless you as you wait patiently for the eternal life that our Lord Jesus Christ in his mercy is going to give you. Jude 1:21 (TLB)
I love the prayer in Psalm 39: Lord, remind me how brief my time on earth will be. Remind me that my days are numbered— how fleeting my life is. Psalm 39:4 (NLT)
This is indeed a 'fleeting life' - but then I have eternity - Praise the Lord!
