Warcraft guild: Order of the True Light

All major cities in the World of Warcraft, from Stormwind to Orgrimmar to Dalaran, have postings on their public call boards announcing the following.

Announcing the formation of the Order of the True Light. The order is an independent chivalric/paramilitary unit who fight not for Faction, but for Right. We believe that God is Light, and that fact changes everything. It means that all kingdoms are one under the King of Kings; that all races are created by Him and so are all equally important; and that His laws are to be obeyed by all creatures. The order puts out this call to faithful men and women of every race: Come, serve the True King before your temporal monarchs. Come, fight for peace and salvation for all peoples. Come, join a joyful fellowship of men and women who exult in the worship of the Most High! Come, join a technically excellent military unit! Interested prospective members can seek out Commander David Therapon, Lt. Commander Nykoldrei Rainspire ((Alliance side)), or Sergeant Astridere Dawnstrider ((Horde side)) in Hearthglen for more information.

Greetings, Christian Gamer's Alliance. It is my pleasure to introduce to you the Order of the True Light. Ours is a very exciting and unique guild in World of Warcraft. We are not Alliance, nor Horde, nor Argent, but a new fellowship of people of every nation seeking to bring peace to this dark world. We feature…

Trueplay: Transcendent Roleplay. We use our roleplay to reveal ourselves as players and get to know one another, instead of hiding and escaping. Come, be known.

Spiritual Resource: True Religion. Instead of censoring spiritual truth with fantasy religion, we embrace Christianity as the heart of our roleplay and the driving factor in our peacemaking. It’s roleplay that makes a difference to your real life.

Family Guild: Relationships that Matter. We value the player relationships in the guild, and seek to become a caring, welcoming community where players feel like they belong and are valued for their contribution. LGBT friendly.

Authentic RP-PvP: Real Conflict and Just Cause. We fight real wars, not contrived ones. We defend ourselves against those who really hate us, both ICly and OOCly. We never wage aggressive war, exact revenge, or go on conquests, even in instanced PvP.

Global Vision: Kingdom Building. We have a real plan for peace on Azeroth, through helping create orderly communities of players in the world’s kingdoms.

Home Guild: Total Content Approach. We enjoy every aspect of the game, having plans to grow into serious RBG teams and normal-mode raiding in a light roleplaying context. We seek to become a Moon Guard server destination guild.

Strategic Ventrilo: Voice Roleplay. Though our voice-acting needs work, we are experimenting with an orderly use of Ventrilo for compelling voice roleplay.

Peace Focus: Cross Faction Roleplay. Ventrilo allows us to have a constant connection across the faction line, for the purpose of peacemaking. Our guild consists of two: one Alliance side and one Horde side, so that all races can wear the tag and the tabard.

Expectations:
- Maturity. We accept kids into the guild, but we expect them to behave in a sober-minded and mature way. Our playstyle requires a high degree of self control, and we expect players to be able to do it.
- Moderate grasp of the concept of roleplay. We are willing to teach, but you must be willing to learn.
- Activity. Members who disappear for two weeks will be demoted to the “Friend” rank, and people who disappear for a month will be removed (unless you tell us what’s up).

Frequently Asked Questions:

“Christianity is the heart of your roleplay? Isn’t that lore-breaking/metagaming?”

We think the Light religion is very clearly inspired by medieval Catholicism, and that it is not lorebreaking to interpret it that way, though the politically correct game developers haven’t used God’s name in any game text since Warcraft. Indeed, the word “Light” has in many ways been used to censor the Divine Name. We seek to reclaim the Light’s true identity, and so speak of God freely in roleplay. If you want to really be a paladin, this is the real deal.

“You’re Christians, but you’re LGBT friendly?

While we affirm the teaching of Scripture that homosexual behaviour is sexual immorality and grieves the heart of God, we none the less accept people who suffer from this condition with open arms, treating them with respect, honor, patience, and even friendliness. One does not even need to be repentant, or to agree with our view, to receive our kindness. We do not hate homosexuals, and any behaviour like that within the guild will not be tolerated. There is a difference between loving someone and agreeing with them; one can love someone with whom one disagrees, and that is the mandate of our order.

“Peace? That sounds boring. This is WARcraft, after all.”

Peacemaking is one of the most challenging and opposed activities in Azeroth and any world. Insist on truth and fight for peace, and your battles will never end. Believe me, we do not lack for action around here—we have enemies in every faction. We are not pacifists. We defend ourselves swiftly and vigorously with all justified force, always obeying the criteria for just war in engagements large and small.

Bumping this post in hopes it gets in front of a few more eyeballs. :)

I don't play WoW any more, but I know several in our community still do. Perhaps more importantly, it seems like CGA is a destination for Christian gamers looking for information about Christian guilds.
