Durruck

Pirate!
Haggai 1:5-6 (NIV)

Now this is what the LORD Almighty says: “Give careful thought to your ways. You have planted much, but harvested little. You eat, but never have enough. You drink, but never have your fill. You put on clothes, but are not warm. You earn wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it.”

In the specific context, God was sending a message to Israel about their foolish behavior. In the preceding and following verses, God was reprimanding because they were worrying about themselves and ignoring God.

Just as we go to the grocery to stock the pantry, wear clothes appropriate for the weather, and carefully secure our money in a purse or wallet, we must carefully stock and prepare our lives, hearts, and minds by keeping God as our focus.
