55 monk

Hey Guys I use a Ranger primary and I was just wondering how well a 55 monk build would work, or if it would work, using a monk secondary. I've been working on farming recently and was just curious. The main problem seems to possibly be the lack of a real damage dealing elite. Shield of Judgement could possibly be used, but doesn't really seem like it would deal enough damage in the end.

What do you guys think?

I don't think it would work well since you can only max the monk's attributes at 12. Other professions have been able to still take advantage of that while utilizing their own set of skills/spells such as a 55 Necro/Monk. The ranger's skills may be limiting. Since you're unable to put points in Blessed Aura (prolongs enchantment spells) which is in the Divine Favor tree, you're probably just relying on a staff wrapping of enchantment. Thus Shield of Judgement's duration is 21 seconds with a 45 second recharge time.

What I'm about to suggest may be considered "taboo" but have you heard of PvXwiki? It's a wiki site dedicated to Guild Wars builds. It's been often criticized due to players using it exclusively for profession builds thus leaving out the ability to create their own.

Anyways, you can give it a shot.

"Great" Farming Builds - look under R for ranger farming builds

Thanks for the link, Naayfish. I check that site every once in a while when I get bored with a build. I think you're right about the ranger's skills being limiting with this build. I couldn't really find a way that it would work all that great, but I was just curious.

55ing with a monk itself is pretty limited nowadays. With a ranger there's definitely better farming builds than trying to go /Mo and use SoJ to 55. You would need the runes to help a lot with the prot spells and the damage with SoJ or any other skill.
