A few points, in no particular order:
I am available for chat on IM (instant message). My public instant messaging IDs are as follows:
I have a second set of instant messaging IDs for my notebook. I usually only give these out to staff members, but I do make exceptions. It's nothing personal. If you're on staff and don't have my secondary IM IDs, send me a PM and I'll reply with those IDs.
I almost always have my away message up. This is because I have a tendency to walk away from the keys to get a drink. If you want to chat with me and my away message is up, send me an IM anyway. If I'm where I can reply right away, I will. If I'm not at the keys or can't reply right away, I'll reply when I get back to the computer.
I'm easily distracted both at the keys and away from the computer. My brb's are sometimes bbl's. If I suddenly stop responding during an IM conversation, I am not ignoring you. I likely got distracted by a phone call or got sidetracked on my way to the kitchen.
I also use IRC and TeamSpeak. I idle in #cga and #toj on the GameSurge IRC Network. I sometimes idle in the Office of the President on the Christian Gamers Alliance TeamSpeak Server.
I have tried numerous times to generate activity in our IRC channel and on our TeamSpeak Server. Unfortunately, no efforts yet have yielded significant increases in activity. It is my strong desire to see the Christian Gamers Alliance develop real-time community in addition to an active forum community, but that desire has not yet been realized.
I'm usually near the keys during the following times:
If you need a quick response from me, sending me a PM is your best bet.
I still like to chat with people. I am not any less fond of people now than I was in 1999 when I established Tribe of Judah and in 2001 when the Christian Gamers Alliance was founded. I don't have as much time to chat as I used to, but I still enjoy chatting.
As you can tell from the Xfire mini-profiles in my sig, I don't spend nearly as much time playing games as I once did. I now own four consoles: a Playstation, a Dreamcast, a Playstation 2, and a Wii. I now spend more time playing console games than playing computer games. I spend eight hours a day on a computer at work, so I prefer a Wii Remote or Dual Shock controller to a keyboard after I get home.
For the last eight years, minus a few seasons of indulging the inner gamer, I regularly spend more time administrating Christian gaming groups and posting on forums than playing games.
It's been a while since I really got excited about a computer game. I'm eagerly anticipating TeamFortress 2 and Unreal Tournament 3, but I've not really "fallen in love" with a game since Starcraft. Well, and TeamFortress Classic. Then Natural Selection. And later, Unreal Tournament 2004. But since I burned out on UT2004, it's been pretty dry. I made an honest effort to enjoy World of Warcraft, but I couldn't make it past level 48 without giving up on questing and leveling altogether.
I still like PvP in World of Warcraft, even though I play as a level 48 Dwarf Hunter and Alliance almost always loses.
I'm currently playing through Final Fantasy XII on the Playstation 2, Zelda: Twilight Princess on the Wii, and Final Fantasy VI Advance on the Gameboy Advance.
If posting after this fashion turns out to be an effective way to quickly communicate several key points, I'll probably follow up with a similar post in the near future.
