Alliances, Defenders, and more!

I just wanted to drop a quick note here to let you all know that we're working on getting our alliances re-established here on Iron Rock. There's a little bit of a delay because we're working with a bigger group - Defenders of the Mountain.

Basically, right before the server transfers were announced, a lot of guilds were working together to start working together to defeat the nasty destruction players.

If you're interested in reading some of their forums, it's located at www.defendersofthemountain.com They also have a ventrilo set up (which I can give the address for via PM or in-game.) The forums are protected so that Destro can't sneak in and read our plans. So please sign up with your game name and then let me know that you need access.

They also utilize a channel in game (/channeljoin dotm). It does not persist between sessions, so you'll need to type it to re-join each time you log in.

And back to alliances. Sacred Silver Blades has expressed interest in re-joining us once the DOTM meeting takes place. The Prismatic Order may or may not re-join, I've heard no feedback from them. Lions of Judah does not appear to be moving servers at this time, so will not be joining us. I have, however, extended the hand of friendship to the few that I've managed to get in touch with - offering them a place in our guild.

Lastly, the guild standard. We chose a new look which we all thought was much spiffier than the old. However, there are no tactics set yet. Since we have a long way to go in purchasing tactics (we get one each time the guild levels) and we only have 1 2/3 standards (more spots open for a total of 3 standards with 3 bonuses) we want to make sure we plan them out. We made a few mistakes back on REM, but with the move have all of our points refunded. We'll get one of them set up over the next few days. Expect to see our colors flying proudly over a keep by the end of the week!

If you have any questions, suggestions, or other feedback, please let me know.

The server-wide meeting apparently happened with very little organization, pre-notice, or anything like that. I'm actually a little disappointed in that, but still hopeful because there is communication at least happening. Here's notes that were rosted on DOTM:

Vagabond hosted an Order meeting today on their vent server, ip: vent64.light-speed.com port: 5145, and overall it was good. It wasn't a giant revelation of Altdorf salvation but I don't think that was it's intention. What is was was the first gathering of egos from the 3 servers, 2 source and 1 destination, and thanks go out to Vagabond for putting it together.

Gainn, whom I think is really Micheal Clark Duncan from the sound of it, from Vagabond pretty much ran the show. I suppose MostlyMagic is really the headhoncho but was having vent issues. Vagabond, along with Anathema, represented by Dontos, seem to be the power guilds on IronRock. The feeling is that they don't get along all of the time but will work together when needed.

The following is what I gathered from the meeting:
- don't worry about the comments in /region about the transfer people. they don't represent the whole server.
- try not to get caught up in the comments, just note who makes them and if it's someone in a guild, contact their GL.
- vagabond wants us all organized and claims to have solid tactics for all of us to use.
- vagabond also seemed open to hearing about the source server tactics and any info about destro we might have.
- ironrock history began with destro dominating but through effective tactics order was able to become the dominators.
- it was asked that all guilds post their guild and alliance info here: http://www.warhammeralliance.com/forums ... p?t=224872
- to help ease into working together it was suggested that on nights we push for forts that each server take a pairing. for example, Ungrim take darkelf/highelf - REM take dwarf/greenskin - Ironrock take empire/chaos and then, depending on how destro responds, shift the forces to where they are needed.
- vagabond seemed resistant to regularly scheduled vent meetings but would rather work things out on order-only forums.
- speaking of order-only forums, it was voted rather hastily that we use waraddicts as our main form of communication. http://waraddicts.net/
- i believe it was determined that a limit of 3 leader/officers have admin rights per guild but all could use once the guild was verified.
- the DotM vent server size of 400 was offered up as a resource. these type of resources along with each guild vent info were requested to be added on the waraddicts site.
- a list of guildleader contact info was also requested.
- a call for a post-patch serverwide chat was put out.
- joining other guilds vents was welcomed by the ironrock guilds as a way of getting to know each other.

Like I said it was more a meeting for getting a feel for everyone than a tactital discussion but it was productive in my opinion. Feel free to add your perspective to the thread.

I posted this here but if it would be better in the general area, feel free to move it.

Emphasis added above was my own. I think these are important points for us to keep in mind. I know that we're outnumbered early in this transfer.

The destro wanted to come in quick and demoralize us by playing in Altdorf every night. So far, it hasn't happened. They attempted to zerg but we repeatedly pushed them back because they crashed the server. Once they had to fight (even when we were outnumbered 1.5:1) we were pushing them around in KV. We've prevented them from capping a fortress despite a 2:1 advantage in the fort and their 3:1 advantage at the server line.

Obviously, as more of our members get here and continue to level, our alliances get established and grow, our plans are solidified... we'll start pushing the destruction around at will. Don't lose hope, we will prevail!
