Can't decide on a new starting profession...

I know they are pretty well balanced, but I enjoy the warrior prof the most cause I enjoy the up close combat with that being said. Are there any other opinions on what would be a good starting profession? Oh I will be starting in prophecies as usual and working my way up. :)

By the by, is there a good guide (BESIDES WIKI) that might help in getting what I need in pre-searing faster so I can move to post. :) THANKS!
 
If you want something similar, with lots of combat, try ranger.

If you want something different that will make it easy to get into PUGs, try monk or ele.

Necros can be fun, especially when you are low level and first get minions. :)

If you like a challenge and understand the other professions, try mesmer.
 
It all depends on exactly what you want. If you like the Melee combat more than anything, you may want to stick with a war, simply because of the armor classes. Ranger is a good one for combat as well, however, due to the low energy level and lack of adrenal attacks, some of the rangers coolest attacks are not spammable. :)

As Maid Mirawyn pointed out, if you want a bit of a challenge, create a mesmer. :D
 
I would say go with a war if you favor melee combat over others. I for one have always favored melee classes over others; however, I have really enjoyed the ranger class in GW more than any other RPG. The variety of builds you can create with a ranger is really fun to play around with. So if you are looking for a change, or merely have had it with getting beat up on the front lines; go for a Ranger! Just my humble opinion :)
 
Go with your strong suits and/or favorites. Just like your job.. it will be so much better doing something you love... cept this is in a game.. so.... ya... WOO!
 
My first was an Ele, but if you want combat then try ranger.

Or you could start in Nightfall and work backwards then you could play a Dervish which is similar to a War.
 
lol yeah. Heroes make Proph a breeze. Made it all the way up to the Ring of Fire islands with just hero/henchies on my Ele character. So if you need any help I'd be glad to help. I love pwning low level stuff. :D
 
Ha ha ha :) Well I went with the not so normal one LOL The Mesmer for the Prophecies Campaign. I want to fill up all my slots with characters so I am thinking for the fun of it to use four of them for the four other professions from the other two campaigns and finish the rest out with a ranger and Ele. Maybe a warrior...I got to thinking I remember my days in WoW when it first came out how I chose warrior first and I eventually got tired of the slash slash slash..blah blah all the time. :) Although to be honest I have never set down and really looked at and read ALOT on the different skills. So they may be more diverse for the warrior in GWs. When it comes to a game I enjoy just going in and playing with minimal help in gameplay tactics...kinda enjoy finding the stuff out myself...I dunno maybe a bit of accomplishment or something. :) Much like the Zelda games, I completed Wind Waker and Twilight 100% all by just searching out things and making my own observations. :) I just enjoy a good game ya know. :) hehe
