Defending the Faith

I hate how when I'm confronted with questions about my faith, that I go totally blank and I'm totally incapable of reciting the scripture that I know and have studied, and I oft wonder why this happens.

Last class period, we were discussing the whole gay marriage topic, and then after a few comments from Christians, and after I recited a scripture, Romans 1:26-27, we got off into the validity of the scriptures and how they came about.

Now, I remained calm after a few insulting remarks, and tried my best to retain my composure, but it eventually left me, and I eventually just sat in my desk in silence.

Yarr, now I'm all in a bad mood for not being able to "perform", I guess you could say.

Quite frustrating....Feel like I've let down the Lord.

So much for a good day.....

You shouldn't worry about it that much.

Keep learning.. working..

You'll get it

Some of us are meant to do certain things.

It never hurts to have the bible with you. Despite what the ACLU would want you to know, it's not illegal to have a bible at school.

I credit most of my inability to speak to the confusion in the room, everyone was in a tizzy, talking about it, even though our teacher tried to keep order, it didn't work well.

Whenever people are just sitting there listening to me, I have no problem rambling off scripture after scripture, reason after reason, answer after answer.

Blah for confusion.

Stupid Lucifer.

Anyone else for hog tying him, tar and featherin', then beating him with a tree ?

Well, I go to a college, so it doesn't matter anyways.

And I did, as a matter of fact, have my a Bible with me, though it was a friends, and mine was in my car...

Foreign Bibles feel funny to me, they don't have the same places worn in....

My Bible, it just falls open to pages that I've read many times, it's like I "know" my Bible...No, not in the biblical sense.

His Bible just...didn't. Boo.

Heh, yea, well, anyways.

Still - theres only so much you can do.

It is there job to go read more about it. I'm sure you got a few to go question.

Don't worry. Everything happens for a reason.

I think some Christians are too eager to prove their point by showing people where it says exactly in their Bible what they believe - but to be honest, many non-Christians couldn't care less how many verses you throw at them.

If non-Christians ask you questions, don't worry about quoting verses - just let the Holy Spirit guide your voice, and say what you believe.

I hear you vanaze, usually its the mood of the room that distracts me. converstation usually turns synical and condescending, I just try to keep the tone friendly, but it doesn't always work because I'm not always as friendly of a person as I'd like to be.

Hey guys good discussion here!

I think we would be well off to remember Christianity is about our relationships not our debate skills. Scripture does tell us to always be ready with a defense. However, it also clearly states our lives should be a living sacrafice for all to see. It is how your treat others and how you love the unlove-able (if that is a word).

I think you did a great thing standing up for the faith. That should be your focus, not what you feel you should have done. The room was not ready for God yet. Not to mention I would dare say someone was saw Christ in your calmness and quiet spirit.
