E-mail program recommendations?

Due to my hard drive making unsettling noises I got pro-active and installed Windows 7 to my other hard drive. Being the my first time using Windows 7 I find Outlook Express has been replaced. Since I am going to be using a new e-mail program anyway which do you all recommend? I need it to import my old e-mails of course.

Personally I use Gmail so I can't say. I used Thunderbird many years ago and it is cool for obvious open-source reasons.

Recently I have helped some people install Live! Mail because their computer didn't come with Office.

It's really a matter of what "feels" better. I don't think any mail programs out (sans enterprise clients) have any crazy "must-have" features. They send-receive-and store mail.

Web based it best now...no reason for a desktop client...but if you have to use one, use Live...it is pretty nice...but Gmail web is overall better... :)

I <3 Thinderbird, with IMAP to Gmail its awesome. A nice black theme and some addons to support Google Calendar, signatures, and a few other things. Id rather have my email separate from my browser for a few reasons personally.

Widnows live isn't relaly a desktop client but a minimal local interface to hotmail. If you want a desktop client i would use thunderbird. I use tbird to manage my various gmail boxes..:)

Downloaded Thunderbird and I am getting it set up now.

G-mail doesn't sound like something I'd like if I understand what it is correctly. I have no I-phone and I think I prefer having my e-mails through my web site as opposed to Google's.

You can di it either way. but 7 gigs and counting for free(just have to bear some minimal ads) works for me..:) of course if you use t-bird to manage the mailboxes then you don't see the google apps ads..:) All of my domains actually use google apps for e-amil..:)

eccmd.com and hescominsoon.com and a couple of others i hsot on my server all use it..:) If i had about 40 gigs of server space i'd host them on my server....but i don't and i don't want to store the mail locally...

You can setup any email accounts in Live mail. Not just hotmail.
