So, last night my wife woke me up and told me the house was shaking, and I saw that is was shaking pretty bad, but told her to just go back to sleep... I got up this morning, and forgot all about it, and found out from a friend we had a 5.2 Earthquake, first time Indiana has seen an Earthquake in 15 years...and right as he was telling me this we had a after shock the freaked me out...lol...

Now you know how us CA folk feel....yeah really unusual for an earthquake to be that far east...So how was it???

It was pretty cool, I think anyway...having the house shake and not seeing a tornado or 60 MPH wind...it was weird...

As Baddwin told me when I first moved to Kalifornia the statement,

"Did you feel that"

Takes on a whole new meaning.

not that i would want to be involved in a earthquake but it sounds alot better then teh hurricanes we receive each year in florida

Good and bad...

Hurricanes you can see coming and run from.

Earthquakes happen which is good and bad...

Lived in Kalifornia for 4 years, woke up one mornin, 7am cause the whole house was just a shaken. Thought, well if somethings gonna crash in, I think I'll get outside fast so went into back yard and the pool water was all waving and sloshing out. After the shaken stopped, there was this strange eerie silence, then the sound of sirens blaring in the distance. It was really wierd.

Signs of the times, we will have more earthquakes all over the world. We even have been having more seismic activity in Reno. Start your earthquake or natural disaster preparedness kits, never can hurt.

ive seen a tornado about as close as anyone will ever see without special gear and what not . formed right near my grandparents house and had there garage roof collapse shortly after it disappeared.

i'd rather get the foot massage of a earthquake over a tornado.

i saw twister, no thanks not for me..

yes gas in cali does cost a arm, a leg AND your first and second born children, but we get earthquakes, not tornado's

ive been through an earthquake and ice storms thats about it lol
and id rather have earthquake (not a big one though but a small one that doesnt kill everyone) then a hurricane

You know the funny thing is South Carolina is located on a major fault line much like California is but we rarely have earthquakes. I think the most devastating one we had was in the late 1800's in which a good bit of Charleston was leveled.

We had a small one 2 years back that registered low on the richtor(sp?) scale, I slept through it btw. However we frequently have hurricanes & tornadoes, mind you not nearly as bad as Florida or Kansas.

Yeah, but you do have *gasp*.....NEVI!!

True. hehe, actually I am moving for my new job to a mountain top north of tucson and I will have to deal with snow and possibly ice storms so it will be an interesting winter considering I can count the times I have been in snow on 1 hand heh

A few years back Hurricane Rita hit Port Arthur Texas which is 3 miles away from my house and completely tore up the whole county.

I was in Iraq at the time and all my family was in the area including Arakk and I was staying up all night trying to call and find out if everyone was ok.

The worst part was that the Hurricane funneled up the river near us and shot off little tornadoes in every direction.

One of the tornadoes hit my Grandma's tree in the front yard which ended up going through the bedroom of her house but luckily she had just went into the kitchen to call my dad just missed her by a few minutes.
