Fake SC2 guide book?

I find it odd when the game hasn't been released and that guide book has a Campaign guide.

This looks more legit than the link above.

But I'm sure by then, Prima Games would also make a SC2 guide and within that price point.

I've bookmarked that site because I'd like to see if the statement becomes true:

This is a introductory price, the price will increase once Starcraft 2 is released.
:p

That guide page said:
Wether your fighting Protoss, Zerg, or the never ending Terran matches, you will know how to counter every race and every unit with Terran.

IDK if that guide is any good but they must not have invested that introductory price on editing (or a native English speaker XD). Either that or they are going to teach you how to castrate a sheep in Starcraft 2 :o .

Note: Yes I noticed it should be "you are" not "your" as well.

I actually bought the guide back a couple weeks ago during phase 1 of the beta. I can tell you that it isn't a scam and it's actually a pretty good guide.

I think the main thing is do you think you actually need a guide for Starcraft 2? I'm kept placing in the copper and silver league so I figured I would give it a try and it has helped me a lot, but I guess it will vary from person to person.

Also if your waiting for the official Prima guide you should know that those guides suck for games like Starcraft 2 and World of Warcraft. All they do is list the stats of the unit and basic information. Go to best buy and look at the World of Warcraft official guide and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Also they don't have the campaign guide released yet. They said in the members area and the FAQs page that they will release it once Starcraft 2 is actually released.

There's lot of things wrong with that book. One, you can find much better information online. Back when StarCraft came out I could see getting a guide, but not now, and not for a game that is sure to be as popular as StarCraft II. Not to mention that printing a book like that for units and strategies during the beta phase of StarCraft is just a terrible idea. They might have been hoping to sell a few copies to excited fans.

Second, it doesn't even come with a campaign guide. It seems like a gross waste of money to me.

Oh, and I love this:

Securely Order your Starcraft 2 Mastery Guide now for only $27.00
This is an introductory price, the price will increase once Starcraft 2 is released.

Did they also invest on making fake sites to market the guide?

I googled and has over 30 sites promoting the guide.
None of them have more information to SC2.

You can also tell their video is a fake.

It does show the Terran gameplay but Protoss is a cinematic view and Zerg is the teaser.

I choose to believe that will be the most disturbing (at least at first glance) link posted to the forums today.

/sigh

Materials written by adults who can't use the English language are published everyday and I can't find work as an editor. Sad.

/bump for newly approved posts

And welcome to the forums, Antquity!

Those review sites are done by affiliates, who make money by promoting the guide. I knew this when I bought the guide from the site although it is the top rated Starcraft 2 Guide which is why I choose to buy this one.

I'm not sure why you think that it's fake, have you not seen all those World of Warcraft leveling guide site? There are around 50 of them and I'm sure there will be a lot of Starcraft 2 Guide sites which are selling guides also once the game is launched.

Odd, Antquity.

I didn't your post before Bowser.

That statement conflicts with its "introductory price", heh.

But true, the Official strategy books are bland and not good with Online/Multiplayer.

I own Starcraft/Broodwar Guide and only the Campaign is useful.

Well, its just an odd thing to see SC2 guide out when most of us have just played the Beta.

And since B.net 2.0 is being redesigned, a Guide from the Beta isn't the same with the Retail version.

Antquity's posts were being moderated since he's a new member, so I got to see them before anyone else.

I still contend that the guide seems pretty pricey (although it looks well-done, so kudos to him for that). Also, I tend to shy away from people who try to make money from their guides. He could have just as easily posted on forums or something, and perhaps charged a small fee that way. It's not a bad idea to produce a guide, I just think it's a bit gimmicky, especially for our group.

Is battle.net being redesigned? I hope so as I've been playing the beta for the past few weeks.

Even if Battle.net is being redesigned that won't effect any of the strategies since that has to do with gameplay and actual battle.net and since I've been a member the owner of the guide has updated a lot of the strategies so hopefully if a lot changes after the beta the author of the guide will continue to update the strategies.
