Final Fantasy XIII Coming to X360

I had this long post written up about how it makes me cringe that the 360 will be the premiere platform for RPG titles for this generation of consoles, but I'll just summarize:

Sony = epic fail

If Atlus takes a cue from Square-Enix and decides to release the next entries in the Disgaea and Shin Megami Tensei series for the 360, there's no reason I can see for any RPG fan to buy a PS3.

/shrug

Oh well. It doesn't matter much to me, anyway. The two most promising RPG titles in development aren't coming out on either the 360 or the PS3. Persona 4 is scheduled for a US release on the Playstation 2 this December and Dragon Quest IX is in development for the DS.

That's pretty neat. It might be the first FF game I ever play! Though I'm usually entrance by action games rather than turn based RPGs, so we'll see.

:/ I am not impressed by the latest Final Fantasy offering and I used to be a big fan (now FF 12 sits still unopened). It just seems like more of the effeminate looking men and battle hardened supermodels I have come to know and loath. I submit this trailer as evidence http://www.gametrailers.com/player/36239.html . Also is it just me or have the costumes and world design become more and more overtly artistic with each itineration? I guess I have just grown tired of the "nothing looks like it would actually function but it's really clean" look.

It doesn't matter to me anyway as I am out of the gaming loop, except on PC, and will be for a very long time.

The main characters of Final Fantasy games just kept getting more and more effeminate until they finally just switched genders! But that's good news.

I'd prefer a female protagonist over an effeminate man-child. Celes and Terra (from FFVI) are two of my favorite RPG characters. I know the series--at least in terms of characters and storytelling--peaked with FFVI, but I still hold more hope for a female lead than yet another CloudSquall character.

As for FFXII, it was a beautiful game, truly. Some of the side characters were genuinely interesting, but I just couldn't stay interested. I played about 10 hours into the game then quit when I ran into trouble in some desert area.

EDIT: But no matter how disappointed I've been by certain FF titles (VIII and X immediately come to mind), I'll still want to play at least a few hours of FFXIII for myself. If I ever do buy a 360 or PS3, I know I'll rent it at some point.
