I noticed Sony has a lot of AGP slots (8x), wow.
Could Graphics Cards be combined as one?
Which is a better, faster processor, Compaq or Sony, and Overall?

System Bus like 5th best to the most expensive computers where I am look at www.futureshop.ca

However Compaq, the 1st one costs, $899.99 Cdn.
Sony, the 2nd one costs, $1,199.99 Cdn.
Most expensive ones with 800mhz system bus are about $2,000 - $2,500 Cdn. And the ones above are almost half price!

I also noticed Compaq has AMD Althon, I heard Althon is great for games on the pc than Pentium 4, is that true?

I'm looking for a PC that is good on Performance, Speed, Better Graphics Speeds and almost the best gaming pc.

I've also got 2 comparable graphics cards I can or will get:

Nvidia, the 1st one costs, $139.99 Cdn.
ATI Radeon, the 2nd one costs, $349.99 Cdn.

My Spending range is......well, what I been hearing about these past weeks, its tax free.

Seem good expcept for the intergrated video you would defintley want something else, The 5200 is very slow compared to the 9800 Pro one is a budget card from last generation and the other is the most powerful card available (not counting x800 or 6800).

Also make sure to check the speed on your ram, 2700 is ok though I prefer 3200 at 400mhz.

Fox, "8x AGP" is the speed not the number of slots. AGP comes in several speeds 1x, 2x, 4x and 8x plus they come in different voltages too. But 8x is the top of the line and you are safe with a card that supports 8x AGP having the same voltage requirements.

I would agree that Intel Integrated video cards are not for gaming rigs. They are business class video cards that work great for displaying 2d spreadsheets but do not have the horsepower for 3d games. Also, integrated cards sometimes mean that there is no AGP slot. Do not look at systems that have integrated cards yet do not specify they have 1 AGP (4x-8x) Expansion slot. Or you will find that you are stuck to PCI video cards that have to use the slower PCI bus to communicate with the system.

i havea compaq presario athlon 2600+
256mb ram
40 gig
dvd rom
however i find that counter-strike on my computer is way unstable, like if i had a msnger going in backround it would screw steam while im playing, though it may be the lake of ram on my computer compared to others.

So, Plank, even though both PC have 1 AGP slot, and I am getting a video card with it (Radeon or Nvidia), still not good for gaming? So, A PC with Nvidia's or Radeon's video card in it would be good for gaming?

Wouldn't your 56k (no offense) also cause the unstability, Atown?

My comment was on the intel integrated cards are not good for gaming rigs. The two PCs you have listed would be excellent gaming rigs. Personally, I would go with the sony because of the faster system bus and Intel processor. Both the 128MB GeForce FX5200XT AGP 8X and 128MB ATI Radeon 9200 AGP are low-mid range video cards. It would be the first thing I would upgrade on these machines.

The first one on the first post.

ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB Video Card
System Requirements Free AGP Slot

Yes or No, with the Compaq's 1 AGP and the ATI Radeon 9800 Pro, would that work for a gaming pc?

How do I do that if some PC don't have a AGP slot? Replace the older one?
