now i was wondering the other day, and what are regular words that many people use daily are considerd swear words?? im not talkin bout d*** or s*** but like suck, or junk like that. what do u think??

totally depends on your convictions. With my junior high girls my toothbrush fellin the trash and I said crap and felt a little bad.

My husband catches me saying the word hell insetad of heck etc. It doesn't convict me but if it bothers others I should try to phase that word out of my vocabulary.

yeah, i can see those are trouble words. hey how come noone has posted here besides ccgr, comeon ya'll u can put storys here and stuff like, dont feel embarrassed.

Most of the low-level swear words don't bother me. I use them more than I probably should though.

I believe any word can be a curse depending on your intentions when you use it.

Let's look at some fun definitions

expletive
[b said:
Quote[/b] ]profane or obscene expression usually of surprise or anger

curse
[b said:
Quote[/b] ]An appeal or prayer for evil or misfortune to befall someone or something.

As we know, cursing is wrong.  Also as we know, thinking about a sin is just as wrong as performing the sin.  So taking those two conisderations into context, we realize that it's not the words but the feelings and thought behind the words that causes it to be an expletive (or curse) or not.  So thinking these lines, even the word 'glory' can be an expletive when used in the same context as any other curse word

I agree with Kidan it all depends on the way and degree in which you plan to use the word.

Oh and Atown turn your font back to black plz.

Are these curse words? (if it is, appology for posting)

Crud
Crap
Darn
yowchaballlywoop (it means yowch in a weird way, but some people thinks its a curse. I GOT IT FROM A BOOK)
Pish Tush (same, i got it from the same book :P)

well? i think they aren't there like the lowest level curse/not curse words... would u guys consider them/some?

To me those are not swear words. Where I come from, everybody uses em, even christians. Telling me those are curses is like telling a brit d*** is a curseword.

yeah makes sense. and i'll change my font just give me a day or so

I say crap alot.. but i dont think i say #### or anything like that...

Its all on the motivation behind the word. Im gonna get dragged for this but...
I have a close friend and we often call each other "#####" but its an affectionate term and used in humour. I would never use that word on anyone else cos i know they wouldnt see it in the same light..

Most "swears" are based on something spiritual, amusingly.

Even old "nonsense" favourites like "Gadzooks", is actually a corruption of "God's hooks" or the nails used to crucify Jesus. See, that's why it's frowned on - because you're taking the sacred and profaning it.

Why it should also be considered profane to take something very common and ordinary like a part of the body or a waste byproduct and mention it, is a little stranger!

Any word used out of context is a cuss word.. so "banana" could be a cuss word really... its all on what society defines as acceptable language... In the normal society there is no line, in christian society there are varying lines.

Kidan I remember you once told me on the server that you considered "darn" to be a curse word.

Unless you are talking about socks that is ;-)

lol, yeah i guess ya'll are right. now i heard a very interesting thing just today. someone was debateing that when a person says gosh darnit (in vain) technically your just asking God to condemb something. its a good point but i believe its still not right.

I know that saying Gods name in vain applies to not using as a swear word but i think it also applies to using it in public to make people think you are a man of God

like how God talked about the pharasies and stuff with their long winded prayers so that people would hear them and say that is a man of God. like don't say Gods name so people would think you are really religious.
