italy wins the world cup!

Darn it? I dont think so, did you see how France's Captain did one the the most unsportsmanlike gestures in the history of sports?!? Frankly I am Glad France lost and he is retiring! I hope France decides NOT to even give him a second place Medal!
 
it's quiet unfortunate that zidane's career is coming to an end like this :(....I was hoping for the french to win, but I could care less, since brazil was out long ago.

He did indeed lose his temper and that was unacceptable. I'm quite sure that he was provoked. The right thing was done and he paid his debt, and if for some reason he doesn't retire he'll continue paying it by missing more matches.

That being said, Zidane is one of the greatest to ever play the game, and aside from that incident is one of the most well-loved, respected and friendly players in the game.

A headbutt is not his legacy. We all make mistakes.
 
I'm just glad France didn't win. I can't imagine ever rooting for France in anything. Italy deserved to win because of pizza and spaghetti alone.

He is a disgrace to the sport.
 
My mom said had it been a really hard headbutt (harder than it was already) than he could've broken a rib or gotten another serious injury (and she's a nurse)
 
Red pieces of paper. The guy hit him hard enough to knock him off his feet. Knock the air out of him, and probably broke a rib.
 
sorry for the late post but I have to agree with astrodood I cold never see ruting for the french in anything exept an invasion hosted by them:D . Haray for Italy

You have to understand soccer. Matarazzi fell back as Zidane hit him. While the headbutt was hard, it was also exagerrated by the way the Italian threw himself down and acted on the ground. These guys are professional actors.
