The hopeful part of me thinks, "Yay, a new arena shooter!" I'm always on the lookout for a new arena shooter that has the potential to be popular enough for a Tribe of Judah chapter. Especially after Epic, IMO, botched UT3.
The realistic part of me thinks, "Flavor of the month." It's worth noting that this game came to light for most people after Valve said, "ZOMWBBQ THAR'S A FREE TEE EFF TOO HAT IF YOU GAIZ BUY DIS GAEM," which must really boost the Monday Night Combat developers' egos. -_-
I'd like for the hopeful part of me to be right. With Valve refusing to fix the Source engine (facestabs, hit detection) or listen to the TF2 community (allow players to craft scrap metal using crates, balance existing weapons, remove hat requirements for set bonuses, etc.), it would be nice to see some competition from an arena shooter with not-broken controls.
Now I've played the game (I received it as a gift) and I like it. I want a new arena shooter to succeed.
But the gaming community is nothing if not fickle and even many of the best games don't get the attention they deserve while other franchises charge $60 for the same old thing with a fresh coat of paint. (Yes, I'm talking about Call of Duty.) Gamers will RAGE at $15 day one DLC then help set record sales numbers for companies that only see them as dollar signs. (Yes, I'm talking about EA and Activision.)

TL;DR: I want Monday Night Combat to succeed. I want it to be more than a "flavor of the month." But I have my doubts it will be anything more; however, I'd love to be proven wrong.
