my computer crashed monday

i lost everything. all my data. all my music, all my pictures i've taken over many years, conversations i've had with people that i've saved, a few things i've written.

all in all i lost 110gigs of my life.
(thus the reason i wasnt at the raid monday night..)

i'm very depressed about it. the music ment alot to me and its all gone.

/sigh
 
dude I doubt you lost it... bring the HD to me this week and I got tricks to recovering lost data.
DONT do anything else with the HD in the mean time.

ohh well now its gonna cost you.

I'll get all your music back but you have to get me a WoW account with a 80 shaman on it so I can be like Tree.
 
oh right...70, sorry I got 80 on my mind lately cause this past week I dinged 80!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
Oh I just talked to Tree and he said you have a RAID array, that makes it a tad more tricky. I will require 2 70s on the account now.



=P j/k But now you need to bring in the whole PC for me to look at not just the HDs
 
Gogo backup!

I learned the hard way to always back up my favorite stuff (music, pics, documents). Back when my computer was apt to crash, I would make a bajillion CDs. Now I use a flash drive or DVDs.
 
Like Odale said, BACK UP YOUR DATA...BEFORE YOU EVER EVEN USE A COMPUTER, get an external HD or something...I would NEVER put any data on a computer without making a copy on my external and a DVD-R if it is really important...
 
oh...and while we're on the subject, while it won't save you from a HD crash - Vista has a rather handy feature that allows you to maintain different versions of documents. comes in quite handy when say you accidentally overwrote something you shouldn't have :(

too late.
one of the arrays whiped itself and the other isnt even working right now.. i'm running raids via SATA inputs on my mobo threw Nvidia raid something or other..
software raids FTL!

if only i had the money for a raid card..
 
i have three HDD's that arnt "initialized" err what not.. i think that is where my data could be.. the empty volume that is under "my computer" is half full but when i open it nothing is shown..

i think the drives are just all mixed up err something.. idk, just being hopeful..
 
And.. if you did not already know... you can burn a data DVD and add to it later.

Just an FYI.
