Oct 5th Study Recap

Topic: Eternal Security vs Falling Away

Verses:
Ezekiel 3:20
Matt 7:21-23, 12:31
Luke 12:45-47
John 10:28-29
Romans 8:33-34, 38-39
Eph 4:30
Gal 5:4
Heb 3:12, 4:6-7, 6:4-8, 10:26-27

Two interesting observations about the scope of the verses this week: the vast majority came from Pauline epistles (assuming Paul wrote Hebrews, which I believe), and in three separate cases, we have different verses from the same books (Matthew, Romans, and Hebrews) seeming to support different sides of the argument.

Conclusions: Both sides of this argument can be adequately Biblically supported, though the vast majority of believers who responded to the poll agreed with the vast majority of websites I came across. Though a more popular opinion, the idea that a Christian can fall away is roughly equally valid as far as weight of Scripture as the idea that salvation is secure. The only thing Scripture is perfectly clear about, surprisingly, is once LOST, always lost as described in Heb 6:4-8. The important takeaways are: respect other's beliefs, recognize that both opinions are equally Biblically viable, and trust that God sorts it out in the end.

In lame mans terms the bottom line we got to was wait until we die and ask God. (but just to be safe dont try and tick him off ok? good :D)
