Cloud G
New Member
I wrote this a while back specifically for people that were new to GW and similar games. The intent was to give them an example of how to loadout a character, and use the skills. Since the forum it was on is down now, I figured I'd post it here.
Cloud’s load out:
Cloud started as a W/E as opposed to what he is now, a W/Mo. W/Mo seem to be the fad in GW, and the reasons why have always been obvious. A self healing tank......hmmm...this isn’t rocket science. However I choose W/E to start with. In pre I picked up real fast on the fact that there would be many times where being able to attack one thing just wouldn't cut it, and well.....you don't get to see some of the nice AOE monk skills until later in the game.
Cloud's current load out allows him to heal while attacking, or being attacked. This lets him keep the damage going on an opponent with out having to take a short break to cast a healing spell. (Yes, that second or two does really make a difference)
Skill 1: Berserker Stance
• You attack 33% faster, and gain 20% more adrenaline each time you hit.
• Adrenaline is a very important concept for warriors. They don't regenerate energy as fast as the other classes in the game so adrenaline skills allow them to still use powerful attacks despite not having enough energy.
• Also, Cloud takes another skill that heals him when he attacks. Therefore, him being able to attack faster means he can heal more.
Skill 2: Sever Artery
• Opponent takes damage, and starts bleeding.
• This is a sword skill that should be taken along with Gash. When used one after the other, the results can be quite devastating to the enemy.
Skill 3: Gash
• If target is bleeding, a deep wound is inflicted. Target loses 20% of its hit points for a short amount of time.
• This should be used when ever an enemy is bleeding. This along with good targeting will take a guy down in less then a second.
Skill 4: Galrath Slash
• This skill strikes for a large amount of damage.
Skill 5: Live Vicariously
• Now the Monk part. This is an enchantment that heals the caster every time the target hits a foe. Cast it on yourself and now you get healed for attacking.
Skill 6: Healing hands
• This is an elite skill.
• This skill heals the target every time it is stuck by an attack.
• This skill does take some time to recharge, so it should be used when in a jam. If you're low on health, cast this....it drives people nuts when they keep attacking you, and your health goes up instead of down.
Skills 7 & 8
These two slots are basically utility slots. They change depending on the situation. Below is a list of skills that I'll sometimes take, but it all really depends on what you are doing.
• Hamstring.......great skill to combat the problem of runners
• Rez signet/rebirth.......this one was new to me......now I’m the last guy standing in...this skill can turn the tide of a battle very quickly.
• Final Thrust
• Riposte
• Pure Strike
• Savage Slash (for disrupting. Take if you’re dealing with multiple monks)
Ok..the break down…
You’ve got all these skills.....now what? Well here's an example. Add hamstring and Rez signet to the 6 skills above.....
PvP starts....
• Firsts thing is to cast live vicariously on yourself.
• Wait until just before you reach the target, and then cast berserker stance.
• Then use hamstring in case they decided to run from the beating you're about to give them.
• Then sever artery, gash, and Galrath slash. In that order as soon as they charge.
• Then use either gash or Galrath slash. Only use Sever artery to re-inflict bleeding.....this skill doesn't do more damage, and wastes adrenaline, so use it when you have to.
• If your health starts getting low, use healing hands. I find that I cast this on my teammates a lot more then I cast it on myself.
• Use berserker stance when it runs out
• Make sure to watch live vicariously. If you're dealing with mesmers or Necros they will usually smash this enchantment and you'll have to re-activate it.
• Finally use a Rez signet when you have to.
Side Note: You could easily switch out the sword skills for axe skills to do more damage. The reasoning being using a sword is that you attack faster so you get healed more.
And there you have it. That's Cloud's current load out, and tactics.
