Hebrews 7:24-26, HCSBBut because He remains forever, He holds His priesthood permanently. Therefore, He is always able to save those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to intercede for them.
For this is the kind of high priest we need: holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens.
Contrary to opinions expressed in popular American culture, God as portrayed in Christian Scripture is not "out to get" us. Quite the contrary; God demonstrated our love to us by sending Christ to receive the death penalty we deserved for our sin so that we may be restored to Him. And salvation is not only a one-time event that secures a more pleasant destination in some far-off eternity. Christ lives to intercede for us.
Our salvation is past, present continuous, and future. Let us never suppose for a moment that Christ's involvement in our lives started and ended the day we received Him as Savior!
