What MMORPG?

WOW is my first real experience w/ MMOs. My wife and I tried the free trial of this and Star Wars; we decided to go w/ WOW. It took no time at all to learn how the game works. The hardest challenge is picking your class and knowing where to spend your talent points; thankfully, there are lots of thread on the internet covering that. Warning: WoW is addictive!

This is my only MMORPG (primarily because I am a pretty cheap guy overall, and I am not normally crazy about spending $15/month), but WoW is extremely addicting. FYI Tuesdays they take down all the servers in the morning hours, so if you wanted to give it a try, today would not be a good day to start. :) You might want to see if you can use someone's disks and a free 10-day pass.

If you like, I can provide the iso images (yes I have blizzard's permission) via bittorrent. I have several 10 day trials available, just drop a line here.

WoW is one of the easiest mmo's to learn and play. However, do you like rpg's? Cause that is what this is:) If so, I would encouage you to read the Game Guide area listed under Game Info on the left side bar of the www.worldofwarcraft.com site. Lots of good stuff there to introduce you to some of the things you will come across in game and how to get started. Taking Allanon up on his 10 day trial offer is a good idea also, as you can see how you like it. Feel free to snag one of us in game for questions also:)

I have played and beta tested a few MMORPGs: Star Wars, WoW, Ultima Online and the short lived Earth & Beyond. I can honestly say so far WoW has been the best out there.

hmmm, thanks guys!
I love RPGs, but I don't really want to spend 15 bucks a month....is Guild Wars cool? It's also gone down in price some, I'm thinking of going with that.
One thing I loved about warcraft 3 is the user made Hero Warz. WoW is like that, huh?

Actually you don't have a subscription per se, just a trail account which you can turn into a subscription if you choose. It is definitely a good way to get introduced to the game without having to put any money into it. The downside is the 3GB worth of game files you'll need to download via bittorrent initially unless you have friends who have WoW.

Yeah our GW section is very large, i play it every now n then, (im playing wow on a friends account). GW is very graphically nice. has alot of pluses. i would deffinitly suggest it over most other MMO's. but in my opinion WoW is supreme.

I played GW for a while with some friends of mine, and while it is enjoyable, it's not nearly as good of a game as WoW, imo. The GW campaign can be enjoyable, and every once in a while I have fired it up for a day or two. The graphics are indeed awesome (and come to think of it, now that I have a new computer/video card I should give a look see). I like the class system for the most part, very strategic and creative approach to class design.

Once my friends started to move onto other games, my interest waned. I normally am not a big fan of pugs, and imo pugs in GW's campaign tend to be less enjoyable (not really sure why) than most online games.

Your milage may vary, so if you can borrow a friends account for a few days and give it a go I would say it's definitely worth a look see.
