Can not see sprays, bullet holes

I can no longer see anyone's spraypaint, custom or otherwise, or bullet holes in Counter-Strike. I have my client configured like-ah-so:

r_decals 300
mp_decals 300
cl_allowdownload 1
cl_allowupload 1

I've deleted all copies of custom.hpk I can find. This problem occurs in Counter-Strike, Natural Selection, and TeamFortress Classic.

What do I need to do to see spraypaints and bullet holes again?

EDIT: I just updated my Radeon 9600 video card drivers from version 5.6 to 5.8. No change.

Brightness: ~60%
Gamma: 100%

Switching the Renderer option to OpenGL fixed the problem.

Your spray is done tek, go get it in that other thread =]

That happend to me before, I saved all maps and reinstalled cs and that fixed it
