Have You Not Seen?

By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and all their host by the breath of his mouth.
-Psalm 33:6 (NRSV)

WHEN I was a teenager, someone gave me a poster depicting a beautiful lake surrounded by mountains and tall pine trees. The image suggested peacefulness; and the caption below the picture read, "Have you not seen him [God] in the things he has made?"

We live in a secular society that too often does not acknowledge God's role in creating heaven and earth or God's desire for relationship with each of us. The Bible presents a different view, that God created the world and in love sent Jesus Christ to be our savior. I believe that each of us was created for a purpose and that God wants us to draw near each day in prayer and meditation. When we have a personal relationship with God, we discover that we are connected not only to God but to one another in love.

Have you seen God in the world around you? I believe the words of Psalm 19:1: "The heavens are telling the glory of God; and the firmament proclaims his handiwork."
Kathi Case (New Mexico, U.S.A.)

Prayer:
Creator God, we praise you for the work of your hands and for the mighty gift of your son Jesus Christ. Give us the wisdom and resolve to read your word each day. Amen
