Problems with a friend

My husband and I have a friend who has serious sexual problems. He is in a theopy group for sex offenders and he has just started going to Sex Addicts Annoynomous. While he is seeking help for his issues, recently he admitted to my husband and I that he has committed some sex offenses against me. (I'd rather not go into details.) We are not sure how to deal with this or handle it. Please pray for God to help us to know what to do.

You have my prayers that God gives you the gift of knowledge and wisdom to handle this situation.

An update . . .

My husband and I are dealing ok with this. Our friend is very repentant, but this is an addiction like achoholism. Many addicts are sorry for what they've done, but they usually end up doing it again. Thank you for your prayers, please continue to pray for us and him. We want him to beat this, and come out healed. We are constantly walking a fine line between forgiveness and enabling him to offend again.

Another update . . .

I mentioned in my first post that my friend is seeking help for his sexual problems. These are from things he did almost a years ago. Well his past has caught up with him, and now he may spend some jail time. He is going to turn himself in, hopefully tomorrow. I will post as new information comes in. There is a chance he will not be arrested tomorrow, but there is a chance that he will. He really can't afford to not be working, so please be praying for him as he deals with this, and that they do not arrest him.

Continued prayers coming your way;)

It all works out in His timing --- lesson I'm learning myself right now...:(

Thank you for all your prayers. Yesterday my friend really had to peace of God on him like I've never seen before. There will be a long drawn out legal process ahead. I appreciate all your support.

I will pray for your friend as well as you and your husband.
Here are 3 books that can really help your friend.
You may find them to be enlightning as well.

1. The Bondage Breaker by Neil Anderson.
2. Victory over the Darkness by Neil Anderson.
3. Freedom from Addiction by Neil Anderson.

Here are 2 more - A Way of Escape, but I'm not sure who wrote it but it deals with sexual bondage.
Battlefield of the Mind by Jocye Myers

I believe I own Victory over the Darkness, but I've only read a little in the beginning. Should the Neil Anderson books be read in oder? Or does it not matter?

I've never heard of a A Way of Escape, so I'll look into it.

Can you tell me about Battlefield of the Mind? I've heard that it's a good book, but never heard anything about what it is about.

Thanks,

The bondage breaker is awesome - did me a lot of good...mostly with regards to breaking negative thought processes...

I don't think they have to be read in order.

Well according to the Bondage Breaker it says that you are to read Victory over the Darkness in conjunction with it.

You can find out more about Battlefield of the Mind on her website and most likely better explained then by me.

Another excellent book is "Every man's battle" or "Every young man's battle" it deals with sexual integrity and gives strategies for victory in the real world of sexual temptation. This book is written by Stephen Arterburn, Fred Stoeker, and Mike Yorkey and is foreworded by Phat Chance.

Um I think that our posts belong in the Advice Forum. Sorry about that Mod.

We already bought him Every Young Man's Battle, and we own almost every book from that line of books. Thanks for the imput.

Smiles I've been considering that as well, but still think prayers are needed greatly. If possible except for updates and more encouraging prayers etc could we please take the advice to advice forums or pm's. I do not always post replies because I use pm's a lot and leave more personal talk there. Also I know that Tek has several things he can share with you about these problems including a computer program to "help" keep one on the straight and narrow. You should be able to pm him for the sites.

Know that you are being uplifted and things work best in His time not ours and sometimes are worst downs turn into our best ups in a different time.

Blessings,"Angel"

I'll go ahead and post some links to anti-pornography resources here as they may be helpful for others as well.
All of these are great resources. I'd write short descriptions of each, but I have to head to bed soon to wake up early for work tomorrow.

my husband and I do already know about these programs. My friend does not own a computer because he knows the temptation that lies there. He also does not have any access to his roommates computer.

I do want this to stay in prayer request too. This is only the beginning of a long process, and I want as much prayer covering over this as possible. My friend had a hard time with his mom last night. She is a non-Christian, and she does not understand his determination to do the right thing, even if it costs him time in prison. Please pray for her eyes to be opened.
