I wanted to understand what the resist value actually does, so i did a little research:

and compiled it into something that i could understand a little more easily. I am an electrical engineer IRL, so i like graphs.

Take your given Resist Value, and then draw a straight vertical line. For example, at 150 resistance, you have:

7% chance to take full damage (resist 0%)
26% chance to resist 25% of the damage
48% chance to resist 50% of the damage
18% chance to resist 75% of the damage
1% chance to resist 100% of the damage
