1 Kings 17

35 By the word of the Lord one of the company of the prophets said to his companion, “Strike me with your weapon,” but he refused.

36 So the prophet said, “Because you have not obeyed the Lord, as soon as you leave me a lion will kill you.” And after the man went away, a lion found him and killed him.
I find this verse confusing. I feel bad for the one being killed. I just want us to ponder this.

This event happened when King Ahab made a treaty with King Ben Hadad. For the purpose of the prophet relaying the message, the verse takes place and the very next person the prophet asked did strike him.

In essence, disobeying God sometimes have big consequence. We need to confess our sins and repent. David sin and yet the bible says that he is a person after God's own heart. What does God want us to do? Are we doing it? I hope and pray we know what God's will for us and be able to obey it.
