Sports game appreciation

Why is it that makes sports games less fun? Why do they not get played so much? Why do other games get played more? I think we need a sports game night or something.
 
For me, it's the repetition. Sports games tend to also be unbalanced...IE once you get decent you can just stomp the computer all day long.

If they make an online HD mutant league football, I will be all over that.
 
Sorry. The closest I get to sports games are 16-bit NBA Jam and Golf Shiyouyo 2 on the Dreamcast.

EDIT: Oh, and Tennis 2K2 for the Dreamcast. Embarrassed I forgot about that one.
