Guten tag,

I wanted to start a little forum for myself and my friends just to stay in touch and goof around. What is the best free forums to use and easiest to set up? I'd love vBulletin, but I know it's expensive and I don't have the green.

Google may be your friend, but it's always nice to include a link when referencing something like that.

But I agree, Simple Machines is the front-runner right now. You may also want to check out phpBB and Invision Power Board.

phpbb has a questionable security record(i track it closely) and invision..they aren't free anymore.

So I'm playing around with Simple Machines Forum right now, and it looks pretty nice. And then I realized I need to upload it to a website I don't have. What's the best place to start a free website? Free is the key word -- I'm very cheap.
