It has been established that not everybody is a fan of the new look of CGA. Thus, I have provided a way for you to switch the forums back to the old look. To do it, all you need to do is scroll to the bottom of the page and select "CGA 1.0" from the drop-down box. Then the system will remember your selection and will not return the forums to the new look unless you select it.

Note that this does not affect the website itself -- only the forums are updated.

Thank you for your patience and God bless!

On the forum categor index (ie the general discussion index), when switching themes the javascript fails with "switch_id" is not defined.

EDIT: it is apparently random. Probably a cache issue.

THANK YOU

I also like how it's the old colors but new setup, e.g. the avatar and join date and all that to the left of the post instead of on top.

Thanks so much for providing this feature! On my ancient non-contrasty monitor back in my cave, the old color scheme is much more legible and less of a strain on my eyes. It was never a really big deal for me, heck I'd use this website if it were in all white text and I had to highlight stuff line by line to read it. :) But it does mean a lot to me that the preferences of members were taken seriously and a workable solution was found. I greatly appreciate the effort, thanks Tom.

I have had to change back to the old skin each time I log in. Is this the way it is supposed to work? Not that I mind changing every time, the old skin is much preferred, I just want to make sure that this is normal.

The front page doesn't properly read the cookies but if you click the forums link it will switch back to "1.0"

I should've pointed out that your selection is indeed cookie-based; my bad. Also, switching the style to CGA 1.0 will only change the forums style, not the rest of the website.

nods..however the front page is also saying i am not logged in when i actually am. When it says i'm not i can goto the forums and it picks up that i am actually logged in. The front page isn't reading the session/login cookie correctly or something.

It could be that the base URL you're browsing the site with is different from the forums one. Example: say you go to the website at "www.cgalliance.org" and then the forums at: "cgalliance.org/forums". It will not read the cookie for the other domain (without the ".www", in this case) -- this is how PHP works with cookies, and isn't something I can jump around, unfortunately.

actually it is the link inside the cms you are using. When i click on forums it's cgalliance instead of www.cgalliance. That's the issue..can you fix that link issue?

*edit* BTW if i change the url to www.cgalliance.org the cookies in the forums still read me as logged in.

here's a workaround..:)

goto www.cgalliance.org
click the forums tab which links you to http://cgaliance.org/forums.
change the url inside your browser to http://www.cgalliance.org/forums you'll still be logged in.
THEN goto http://www.cgalliance.org and the frontpage will show you as being logged in.

The CMS's link to http://cgalliance.org is the problem causing the cookie reading error.
You could probably switch the URL in the forum to read the sans "www." link.
