EARTHQUAKE!!!

In 1989 the Loma Prieta quake hit. The epicenter was about 10 miles from my house, and 11 miles deep, so i was really really close. I was at soccer practice, and i could litterally see waves coming across the field. They were about 1.5 feet tall, and 20 feet between crests. Must have been moving at like 25-30 mph. To date, it's one of the craziest things i've seen in life. Second only to flying monkey poo.

It happened during the 3rd game of the world series, and made part of the bay bridge collapse. They Cypress freeway totally collapsed and killed a bunch of people.

One of the craziest things happened to a goodyear blimp. Quote from Wikipedia... "The Goodyear blimp, in San Francisco to cover the World Series, was the first blimp to be airborne over the location of a major earthquake. The pilots of the blimp reported that the blimp bounced during the quake (confirmed by onboard sensors and cameras) almost as if it were on the ground, the first confirmation that the air column above an earthquake is affected by the movement of the ground underneath."

hahah I had a similar experience in that quake. I was on the football field and had just made a tackle. I got up and couldn't find my balance, I thought I was shaken up from the hit until I looked up and saw the huge waves rolling down the field. It was totally crazy! I then heard tons of screams as the water polo team was being literally throw out of the pool and against the far wall and bleachers. One player broke his leg from the impact.

I remember driving home in my jeep cj-7 and all the stop-lights were out everywhere and traffic was a mess. I went offroading the whole way home straddling a railroad track because I knew I was the last thing a policeman would care about at the time.

I made it home in time to feel some of the crazy aftershocks with my family. Pretty nuts!

It was the swimming pools that tripped me out the most, I had a ton of friends who all lost insane amt of water from their pools, if they were not completely broken from the quake.

now both those storys sound crazy...... makes me glad i live in a apartment instead of a house.

but in the past few months weve had storms that have cause minitwisters to appear out of nowhere and i barely escaped one today walking home from my sister's school , luckily my backpack is really heavy which saved my life though im having major neck pain now because of it.

Rofl, thats classic!

The Reno news says we've had over 100 quakes Thur. and Friday. I say we get a whole bunch of martini making peraphenalia and have shaken (not stirred) available for everyone and then nobody will care about the earthquakes.
