alright so after 3 years of her hold of on her promise , my mom has finally said she will buy me a laptop after she get herself a new one for college and my sister getting her old one mainly because all of her games are on it . my question is a laptop able to play WoW better then or worse then a pc?

P.S. here is the laptop she she is looking at and i am removing vista from it seeing window is scraping vista all together and replacing it with window's 7.

depends on the desktop you compare it to. an XPS laptop is better at gaming than a $300 emachines desktop from walmart but dollar for dollar you can probably get a much better gaming desktop than a laptop and have a much better screen to view it on.

Goblit has a Intel Duo Core w/2G ram and a pretty good video card, WoW runs as well on it as her desktop.

I hope I can upgrade/downgrade vista soon. I had a Toshibe I was happy with but now have a HP from Wally that is nice. I suspect if I cleaned it up some it would have a better fps, but I am usually ok to play wow on it wheter at home or on the road. Besides, my grandsons want the two desk tops to play on and we are considering a third desk top...

Anyhow, I have 3 gig RAM and the AMD Turion 64x2 and nVidia Graphics. There are better out there, but his one is ok.

my laptop is my dads old one and i havent touched it in like 2 months haha
his new one is a toshiba tablet that is a lot of fun to play with but dont think its teh best gaming one haha

well in comparison to my e machine from walmart which has about 516 ram and 120 gig harddrive , it is considerably better

512mb ram is abysmal for anything these days. i'd recommend to try and find a machine that has at least 2gb of ram.

takes 1gb for the operating system now a days hehe

hopefully not, but yes it can happen. i've seen WoW with a few beefy addons use over 700mb of RAM which if you only have 512 it starts hitting the paging file on your computer. This is extremely slow compared to utilizing RAM as it requires disk writes and reads to access the information.

I just scored the new macbook pro, and it hauls. Dual core 2.53ghz, 4gb ram, 512mb geforce 9600M GT. I was actually able to turn the new shadows on!

But the general consensus is correct. Cheap desktop > cheap laptop. Expensive desktop > Expensive laptop. Gaming wherever you want, priceless.

My take on gaming computers is that the video card and RAM are the most important considerations. I decided before I bought my wife a Dell laptop for school, I will not get the minimum RAM anymore. I get the max available. As for video cards, I get the 2nd in line for the best on the market and prefer ATI cards. Anything under $300 is steep, but worth the FPS in the long run.

ati is a very reliable company when it comes to videocards , thats what my tower has in it and i have had no major issues with it , as for ram ... thats a big factor in how well the game plays which is why im after a laptop with atleast over 2 gigs to support WoW and maplestory

thats the one thing i dont really like bout my mac... i cant change the video card but still it does AMAZING with the built in one and added a lil bit of ram to make it a big bigger love it

well, i ive been given the option to get a external harddrive instead of a laptop but my main concern is they dont bring any ram with them .... thats the thing i really need at this point of my game.
