WoW Mouse

So ... I have a $50 gift card for Amazon that I got from my company for having filled out a Health Self-Assessment survey. I am considering using the $50 to subsidize the purchase of a WoW Mouse ... which is probably exactly the opposite of what my company's "Health Awareness" initiative was meant to spur, but never mind that.

On one hand, the idea of an MMO-customized mouse is great, I think. I've found that many mice are designed around FPS requirements and not MMO requirements. I've used a Nostromo and a Saitek Cyborg in the past, which I think are nice -- especially when playing on a laptop --- but they're flimsily designed unfortunately. So the notion of an MMO-focused mouse (e.g. lots of buttons) that has a UI integrated into WoW itself (like this WoW mouse does) built by a higher-end gaming product company (e.g. SteelSeries) seems like a great thing. However, I'm also a sucker for marketing gimmicks.

However ... reading reviews, I get the impression that SteelSeries's strength in some gamer products (e.g. headphones) doesn't translate over to user input devices (e.g. mice) ... a lot of the mice seem to be failing. Anyone have any personal experience? Anyone have an WoW input device that they rave over (I have a old (e.g. with the 18 macro keys) G15 keyboard that I rave over, but it doesn't travel)? I currently use the Cyborg and a Sidewinder mouse ... works pretty well but isn't droolworthy.

I use this and i love it.

as far as the WoW mouse goes, it looks sickk

if i needed a mouse and had that kinda money i might think about buying it.
lots of buttens would be nice for WoW, specialy with clique (healers dream come true)

anyways.. i'd say go for it.

Wow... you guys still use mouses?? For the last year i've been controlling my cursor just by looking at my screen and exerting willpower...
Ya'll need to evolve already, it makes a big difference in game play =P

me farming leather... hmmmm not being a skinner that would be hard.. but hey ill stil take the 100 dollars!

I use my little Death Adder and love it. So for all the people that have that many buttons on a mouse, do you actually use them? Just seems like anything except maybe a thumb control would get in the way of actually needing to use your mouse.

Clique + a thumb button is all i need :)

I'm not sure if you meant this, but that's an awesome idea for a mouse. Have a litte thumb control joystick or D-pad that moves the toon around, and then move the cursor around with the mouse movement itself. I don't like losing my keyboard real estate to WASD keys (much less WASD+QW+X when I map my S button to be autorun) ... so having the Nostromo D-pad or Saitek mini-joystick is kinda cool. Only problem is, they're about as robust as the D-pad on the original Nintendo Entertainment System or the joystick on the Atari 2600 after it's been decimated by 1,000 rounds of Activision Decathlon. Having a precision, well-made right-hand thumb control pad/stick would let right hand be all "movement" and left hand be all "controls/buttons." At least until someone works that whole mind control thing out.

i was meaning more like...i like to use my keyboard and the only thing i ever use my mouse for in addition to movement is decursing which i've bound through clique to one of my thumb buttons.

i had the nostromo for a while, but i think it's a bit much for me to process both :) not sure if *this* is what you were saying, but something like a nostromo, perhaps a bit smaller in form factor, that could serve as a mouse, would be pretty cool though!

$10 bought me an optical Dynex mouse - two standard buttons (index and ring finger), two side buttons (thumb and pinky), and a clickable scroll wheel (middle finger). It's been working great for two years, and five is really all the buttons I need.

$30 bought me a Z-merc gaming keyboard with all the WoW controls I need available to my left hand without moving. It stacks the [7] through [=] keys above the [1] through [6] keys for easy access. Ctrl, Shift and Alt are stacked on the pinky finger, making 48 spells castable by just pressing 1 or 2 buttons.

Not bad for a $40 investment!

I use this mouse...

I absolutely love the feel of it and how smoothly it works :)
