I just beat it.

Very fun game, very fun boss fight.

Very bad ending (not bad as in morals though).

Has anyone else beaten it?

I did. I did not like the game. I thought the plot was trash, the atmosphere monotonous and lacking in creativity, and the gameplay uninspired.

I beat it also, thoughts are pretty close to tjguitarz...

I liked it overall.

But like tjguitarz, other than the major kink in the plot I thought it was rather dull as far as the plot is concerned.

The game play is awesome though, graphics are amazing and the scenery is fabulous.

While the graphics and gameplay were very strong, the content and story irked me.
The story fizzled out a lot at the end, the boss battle was a joke, ending was lame and short, and the main storyline had you doing fetch missions. Over hyped too much in my book. A solid 7. >_>

Ouch, some harsh words for BioShock.

I only played about 30 minutes of the game, but I thought the graphics were excellent, the story was interesting (and certainly more ambitious than "soldier kills demons with big guns"), and the anti-humanism subtext (i.e. the violent and total failure of a society led by the ideal of "No kings, no gods, only men") was appealing. Of course, I like almost any story about the tragic results of hubris, which likely explains why I enjoy Greek tragedy so much.

As I mentioned in a separate thread on BioShock, my computer doesn't run the game very well, so I've shelved the game until the day I can build a new desktop gaming rig. But I do plan on playing it then.

I just finished it...like five minuted ago! By far one of the best games I've played over the past year. I only finished with the good ending, but I might go back and finish with the bad one soon.

I will have to admit that what I have read on Bioshock 2 is peaking my intrest a little, I may have to give the sequel/prequel a chance.

I just watched the game play preview of BioShock 2 and I'm extremely tempted to get it, also can't wait for Wolfenstein to come out in a few days!

played Bioshock..loved the graphics and the music and hated the story and the boring gameplay and the environments got to be too dark and boring as well

I loved every thing about it. I know the environments were bland...but really...what else were you expecting. Your miles underwater in a rotting and decrepit city.

Not sure what I was expecting..just seemed to be missing something to me. Course I didnt like Fallout 3 that much either..but love Oblivion...go figure

I loved both Oblivion and Fallout 3. There were some things that I didn't like about both, but they were minor enough that I could overlook them.

I am a huge fan of Bioshock. I thought the story was different than anything I have played. I thought the addition of puzzles made a nice mix up. I am not a huge FPS guys, so that might be why I have a different view from others.

The graphics and sounds were really a treat. The story line was odd for sure, but that added to the funky factor for me.

I agree on the ending being really bad. It seemed to be a cop out to me.

I am looking forward to Bioshock 2.

I got about 3 hours into the game, then got distracted by some other game (probably Okami) and haven't played it much since.

Even though I have a computer that runs it well now (my old Inspiron E1705 nearly had a heart attack trying to run it), the combat still feels cumbersome. I like the story, setting, and atmosphere, so I thought about just plugging in cheat codes and blazing through the combat portions so I can get on with the game (instead of squandering the last of my 5 bullets and having to rush enemies with a wrench every other fight).

Bullets? For the demo I just stuned with lighting then wrenched, lather, rise, repeat. I only used the guns and the pyro power out of bordem becuase the lighting worked so well. I never ran out of it either. Can you not use lighting later on, becuase I only played the demo? If I remember correct I read that most people played through the game with the powers not the bullets.

Aye, but my aim isn't stellar and I occasionally miss with the lightning. When I run out of Eve, I'm left only with traditional weapons. :(
