Music nerds unite

Ok this is a response to this atrocity of music called Friday. Sorry if you like it, I still love you, but I don't love that.

I didn't know that existed until McFierce posted that link (his video was better).

So I am just wondering if anyone wants to start a music discussion thread. Bands, styles, influences, videos, solos, etc...

Some examples might be - greatest band of the 90's and why, who is the best drummer ever, most creative music video, etc...

We so excited...

Saw Rush in concert w/ my bro and dad. Limelight was what they opened with. What followed was 2.5 hours of pure awesomeness. Neil Peart's drum solo was insane and involved him spinning around 180 degrees to transition from a "real" drumkit to an electric one and back and forth...crazy

Derek - I've seen Rush 3 or 4 times in concert and it's always been a great show. Limelight is, along with The Spirit of Radio, the absolute pinnacle of 'Rushness'. I like.

Goodwone - Two big thumbs up for Skillet, too. =)

Icthus - Forthwith you shall be ignored in this thread. Thus it is spaken, thus it shall be.

I LIKE THE MUSIC THAT GOES WOMP WOMP WOMP

srsly tho. Dubstep and DrumNBass are my huge addiction right now. Electronic.

Examples:

Dubstep - Pretty Dubstep

Drum N Bass - DnB I always find myself humming the bassline to this song throughout my day. Its just so happy sounding.

The main difference between DnB and Dubstep would be the tempo (DnB = Fast/Upbeat and Dubstep is Heavy hitting drops and slower tempo). Its hard to describe Electronic music without the proper vocabulary. Its better to just listen to it. You'll see what I mean ;)

Neil Peart. Next question.

(Big Rush fan, btw...not biased at all...)

huge RUSH fan here!
Saw that concert as well. I have seen Rush about 8 times live. I followed them up and down CA my first year in college for the "roll the bones" tour. The Rhythm method (drum solo) was beyond epic and it is literally impossible to top.

How sick was this set list:
Intro (A Show of Hands)/"Force Ten"
"Limelight"
"Freewill"/Distant Early Warning"
"Time Stand Still"
"Dreamline" (from Roll the Bones)
"Bravado" (from Roll the Bones)
"Roll the Bones" (from Roll the Bones)
"Show Don't Tell"
"The Big Money"
"Ghost of a Chance" (from Roll the Bones) (added 12/4/91)
"Subdivisons" (abbreviated) (dropped 5/27/92, replaced by "Vital Signs" beginning 5/29)
"The Pass" (dropped 5/27/92, replaced by "The Analog Kid" beginning 5/29)
"The Trees" (added 5/27/92)
"Where's My Thing?" (from Roll the Bones)
"The Rhythm Method" (drum solo)
"Closer to the Heart"
"Xanadu" (abbreviated)
"Superconductor"
"Tom Sawyer"
Encore:
"The Spirit of Radio"
"Oldies Medley: 2112" (Overture)/Finding My Way"/"La Villa Strangiato"/"Anthem"/"Red Barchetta"/"The Spirit of Radio" (reprise)
"Cygnus X-1" (teaser, added as early as 4/29/92)
