+25 agil or +15 str

ok, I need a little advice. On my druid I now have my warden staff and want to put an enchant on it, as I plan to be using it for a while. I rarely do enchants but this seems worth it.

My best options as I see it are the +25 agil or +15 str. Now, assuming bear form, which is more valuable? I would appritiate someone who understand the mechanics better to advise me on this. THe str is cheaper, but what does the agil buy in terms of better crit dodge etc?

Pulled this from a sticky in the druid forums:

http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=11601186&sid=1

The following are important formulas (subject to change in BC?):

1 str = 2AP
With HotW (in cat form) 1 str = 2.4 AP
1 AGI = 1 AP cat form only
14 AP = 1dps

20 AGI = 1% melee crit
20AGI = 1% dodge
1AGI = 2AC

1 STA = 10 HP (w/ HotW bear = 12)
1 INT = 15 Mana (w/ HotW = 18)

Other info

Dire Bear and Moonkin armor is calculated as 460% of items (agi bonus, armor kits, and enchants are not included in this calculation) This can be raised to 506% with 5/5 Thick Hide.

Weapon procs listed "on hit" (eg. Crusader/Fiery)do NOT currently proc in forms (moonkin aside).
Trinkets/armor that are listed as "on hit" DO proc in forms (Maelstrom, Elementals decks).
+Atk speed enchants DO work in forms.

When looking for Feral weapons, go for those with the best stats, not necessarily the best DPS, because weapon DPS still will not matter when in forms. You aren't using the weapon itself, but you still get the stat bonuses.

Best Enchants:
Tanking Weapon (pre-BC) - +25 Agi
DPS Weapon (pre-BC) - +25 Agi
Healing - +heal or spirit
Casting – Intellect or Spell damage

In the event you are poor, the Iron Counterweight (+3% attack speed) DOES work for druids in feral forms, and is a good alternative on weapon that doesn't deserve an end game enchant.

I am also torn on what to put on my warden staff. I am heavily leaning towards +STR as it has more direct turn around for Bear form and probably has more impact on Cat as well. Plus, it's a cheaper enchant to gather the mats for :)

Depends if you are planning to tank or not.

What Tinie hasn't said yet is that for Bare Durid, 1 Agi == 8 Armor. In BC, it's gonna == 10 armor.

+25 Agi == +200 armor and +250 armor in TBC. Add to that a +1% chance to heal yourself and a +1% chance to gain 5 rage... not a bad enchant.

Of course, if you plan on going cat form... well, +36 AP isn't shabby either.

P.S. Drew --- the Warden staff is the only real choice for a teddy --- in bear form it gives 14 stamina (19 in TBC), 1000 armor (1250 in TBC), and 10 of that much-needed Defence skill (Teddies need at least 315 in order to tank... however they don't really seem to need much more than 315.) Also, I'm not sure that the Doomulous is such a good choice --- DPS does not effect feral performance in the slightest. It is all about stats. If you give a feral druid Sulfuron, you've just wasted a pile of legendary loots.

Sorry I didn't catch this before. Two things to point out:

a) the 460% > 506% is only true in TBC. At the moment it is lower.

b) Enchants are included in the calculation... what are not included are straight +armor bonuses, and bonuses from buffs such as potions, totems, auras, or oils. For example, I do not gain +4800 armor every time I group with a paladin. :(
Anything that alters your stats and is a part of your equipment will in fact be a factor.

Hmm now that you put it that way, and given the talents that you would have anyway to obtain this...+25 Agi seems the way to go.

Time to add that green glow to my stick :)

Oops, my mistake. I was thinking of non-epic, non-BoE kind of stuff to use.

I'm a cheap-o and unwilling to spend gold for...pretty much anything. :P

INterestingly enough, I do keep a Doomulus prime for when I am feeling a little....katty, but the intent of this discussion was for Bear (tankage). Thanks for your imput all. I will prob try for the agil then.
