40 man raids out in the expansion?

Just saw this article http://pc.ign.com/articles/725/725325p1.html up at IGN, lots of new information on the expansion and the PVP changes. Big story is that in the expansion the biggest raid encounters are going to be 25 man.

Edit: Second article at http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/worldofwarcraftexp1/news.html?sid=6155696
It's true, the plan is for five-player capped grouped dungeons. Ten-player capped raid dungeons. As well as Twenty-five-player capped epic raid dungeons. We wanted to focus on smaller raid environments, primarily to allow for greater individual player contribution. Also, in these smaller environments, hybrid classes have more opportunity to shine.

Player vs. player is also getting a rather large makeover in the expansion. The honor system is being changed around so that honor gained is used like a currency to purchase goods. There will be no more ranks in the honor system but those that have been participating will be able to keep anything they've earned to date including titles and equipment. Otherwise it's effectively being reset. The hope is also to encourage players to move between battlegrounds by having some equipment cost basic honor along with specific honor won in different locations.

ARENA Battle's!
Competitive PvP will include an arena system. Arena will be a competitive ladder where teams of players will be able to fight amongst themselves in a sporting environment. At this point, Blizzard is planning to include 2v2, 3v3, and 5v5 matches.

From there we had a nice look at the wonderfully detailed capital city of the Dranei called Exodar and the elephant/ox mount of that race known as the Elekk

Outdoor world PvP will still be available as well and will be enhanced as it's started to be with recent patches. All of the zones in Burning Crusade will include objective PvP areas.

Very nice, I wonder how MC will be done now. I wonder if they will "gimp" the instances...

I think with the player Level upped to 70, the increased stats, armor, etc, will essentially make a 25 man raid on MC easily doable. Consider Redeemed's first successful boss take down in MC, 30 level 60's and we killed Lucifron. So imagine 25 level 70's.

Another article with some more interesting quotes. http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/world-of-warcraft-expansion/725327p3.html

Blizzard is using the fact that its previously faction-exclusive classes are now open to both to give them some new abilities. Paladins will finally get the tanking capabilities they've always wanted -- they're getting a taunt-style skill. Shamans, meanwhile, are getting Bloodlust, the iconic Warcraft ability that players have been clamoring for.

The Draenei will ride these fearsome, bison-looking things called Elekk. They have huge, protruding horns and tusks, and they look quite cool. The Blood Elves, meanwhile, are getting Cockatrices.

One thing that may disappoint current PvP diehards: Loot attained via the honor system won't be as powerful as gear got from raiding. There's a plus side, though: There's a whole new PvP system in place that will provide gear that's on par with the best PvE-garnered stuff.

Wow! that article is so awesome! Man I cannot wait for this xpac. All instances capped at 25! This is perfect for <Redeemed> who can always get 25 to show for a MC raid but 40 is not happening.

All current 40 man instances remain 40 man raid instances. Only the new raid instances will be 25 man capped.

Also, the new instances will have a new feature: User selectable difficulty. This will allow a group of 62's to do an instance and then again at 70 but the can select a more difficult setting. The more difficult instance will have the encounters toughened and the quality of the loot increased.

Are you sure GP? If they wanted to focus on the individual, wouldnt they make all raid instances capped at 25? Most guilds still havnt figured out Naxx yet.

New raid instances introduced in the expansion and after will all follow this rule though players still interested in the larger group activities will still have the option to play through legacy raid zones in their classic modes.

This is in one of the articles.

they would have to remain 40 man raids for the people that dont buy the expansion, might be a little tough with 25 60s. I'm sure it could be done by people that have farmed them already and are already decked out and know all the strats though.

It will be 25 level 70s FYI =P the current 40 mans will remain for the people who don't buy it and stay level 60
