A question about window...

Hey, if I were to ever upgrade from XP to windows 7, can I just buy the upgrade pack? Also, since I built my computer, would it be better just to buy the system builders pack?

Thanks!

I'm probably speaking out of turn since I don't know much, but if memory servers me you can upgrade from either XP or Vista to Win7. The only thing with the upgrade pack is that if you need to re-install windows you have to install the first OS then upgrade it to Win7 again. Am I correct everyone else?

Yes you can as I did it for my netbook.

If you do however, you'll need to reinstall everything.

If you are running a machine with XP, honestly you might want to stick with it. Or double check that your specs will run win7 well. Vista/Win7 is great on new hardware but on older stuff XP is the way to go.

not necessarily., I have a 1.6 ghz single core celeron notebook with 2 gigs of ram that run 7 perfectly.

Win7 runs a lot smoother than one might think. Maybe it's because it's powered by Nike(tm)?

From what I saw, XP will NOT save your files and programs. It will reformat. If you upgrade from Vista, it'll save everything.

THis is for the future if I ever feel the need to upgrade. I haven't even installed XP on my computer yet :P I currently only have ubuntu, but for star trek online and battlefield 2, I will be installing windows.
