AGP Video Card

I have a friend who has an older P4M266A-8235 mother board which uses the AGP chipset. He plays CSS with a lot of lag and wants to upgrade to a better video card. My recommendation for him was to upgrade his computer! However cost is a factor.

My question then is what is the best AGP video card for gaming?

My brother and I recently tried to update his AGP card with an HD series card from ATi.

ATi has had some serious driver related problems with that series as (if I recall correctly) it was designed to be PCI-e only, and the AGP card's drivers got really messed up. Id skip that line if I were you.

Recently, motherboard companies have started to incorporate decent onboard graphics onto their motherboards. I believe the ATi equivalent is in the HD 3000 series. It will get him by and I would be comfortable betting that the HD 3000 graphics on those boards would be better than the AGP card he has now.

But back to your question, no. I don't know of any good "new" AGP cards.

I know in my previous computer I used an X850xt with no problems. It ran HL2 and all of its episodes and TF2 with out a hitch.
