That's right, I got contacts! (1. convenience 2. no glasses!! except for a backup pair in case I lose mah contacts 3. Glasses with braces is getting a bit nerdy for me)

...And that was a public service announcement by Chicken Soup :D :D :D

Contacts or Lasik... I'll follow in your footsteps someday, C$. (To become a whole human once again... that'll be a day of joy)

Oh, uh - congratulations. :)

Ah, good ol' contacts. After awhile, you'll stop caring and wear your glasses just because it's easier. But I'll admit, contacts are much more friendly in the way of sleeping during class.

As for the nerdy thing, I got my braces and glasses in the same month. Ouch.

I determined long ago that contacts are just too much work.

I'm a night owl (one word or two?) by nature, so having one more thing to fumble with in the morning--especially when groggy--is one too many. I also like having as little as possible to do when I get ready for bed. Plus I'm rather fond of reading, so it's nice to be able to take off my glasses when I read (I'm nearsighted), then put them back on when I'm done. And with Memorial Day (and the opening of apartment pools nationwide) right around the corner, I'm thinking it's nice to be able to just take my glasses off at the pool rather than mess with contacts.

Contacts are great for people who feel self-conscious about wearing glasses, but considering how fashionable glasses have become (i.e. designer frames and all that rot), there's not much to be concerned about. Plus people assume you're smarter when you wear glasses. Weird, but true.

But hey, if contacts are your preference, then enjoy. There's a number of advantages to contacts over glasses. I'm just too fond of my glasses to make the switch.

Oh, but I should mention that I did wear contacts the day of my wedding so there wouldn't be any glare on the photos. That was one time I was very glad I had worn contacts before and was comfortable wearing them again.

heh I think you're right about convenience. I wear contacts about 70% of the time, sometimes I don't even bother with them like if I don't get enough sleep then I can't keep my eyes open enough to put them in or it takes like 20 minutes to get 'em both in lol :p

So we can expect intelligible and senseful posts now that C$ can read the screen right? *crickets in the background* right?

Welcome to dried out eyes, feeling like you have grit in them when they get dirty, and umm yeah be careful cleaning them so you don't tear one. I speak from experience. What is fun is to sit one on the counter and come back in a few hours to see just how brittle they become, but only do that with the ones you are about to throw away.

Actually, you can dry them out and then moisten them back up with some solution. Granted, it's probably not a good idea but WHOA! It works!

Yeah, they don't feel quite right after doing that. But its kinda like those amazing plants that can lie dormant for years without water.

Ever had one roll up in your eye? That is a real pain. Nothing like trying to fish a contact out from under your eye lid that has rolled up.

Yeah actually I had one roll up down in the bottom of my eye when I was putting it in and, of course, I couldn't see it so I kept blinking, thinking it was on my lens but just a bit dry or something.

Oh yeah, and I got a tiny eyelash on the inside of the left one today (the left one, for me, is always the irritating one) so I sat there for 10 minutes wondering what the heck was going on :p
