alternate chat options

does anyone in here use any of the alternate chat engines (i.e. secondlife, IMVU etc) I have been checking them out lately and they seem descent if you have a group of people you know using them. but be warned they are internet chat programs so not always 100% family safe.

Anyway just looking for opinions from this group,

I play secondlife alot. I wouldn't really classify it as a chat program but as a complete economy and world online. However the management really sucks and doesn't really care much about the users. Griefers are a large problem and I usually end up banning a few people each day from my land because they will wander in and start shooting people up, lol.
 
Several of us have done IMVU before. I don't currently, but would be willing to start.

Currently use MySpace IM, primarily.
 
XFIRE + GW = FTW!

but if enough people do it i would be willing to try something out. cept Myspace for parental reasons.. tho i could probably get around that. :)
